I would like to listen to sirius outside near my pool. Don't want to use the app due to heat to my phone. Are there any options which would include batteries?

Sirius used to (as in no longer) offer boom boxes for certain models of their standalone receivers. The model I have (SUB-X1) runs on 8 D batteries. The AC adapter is 36 watts.

You need to confirm receiver compatibility.

How do you want to achieve this? Are you looking for a weather resistant set up that primary stays outside, or something that you bring outside every time you want to use it? Do you want it internet driven or satellite driven? Is being able to change stations important to you from outside or do you just want to turn it to one channel and leave it there?

I’m a little confused what you mean by ‘heat to your phone’. Do you mean you don’t want to leave it outside in the heat on hot summer days? If so, that’s what my post below will assume.

The simplest would be the boombox method. This the boombox only. You’ll have to also get a compatible plug and play receiver, if you don’t already have one. It operates on AC as well as D cell batteries.

For streaming you can use an Amazon Echo device or a portable Bluetooth speaker like the Jawbone Jambox outside and pair it to a phone or tablet with the SiriusXM app installed inside. With the Echo you can change channels and volume levels with voice commands, with Bluetooth pairing you would need physical access to the device the speaker is paired with.

For a more permanent solution, you could install outdoor speakers, maybe under and overhang or something and connect them to a device capable of streaming Sirius XM over the internet, or get a plug and play receiver with a home kit and have that inside the house. The home kits come with remote controls, you could in theory have the home kit inside of the house, and get some of the IR -> UHF pylons similar to what Radio Shack used to sell and use the remote outside to control the receiver located inside the house while in the pool. Just don’t drop the remote in the water

If you have some form of an outdoor radio with an Aux port, this is what I do. I bought a bluetooth transmitter (not one for the car) that connects to home sound systems via the audio (red and white) Aux cables. I use SiriusXM through Dish to listen to music. But, I have about 1,100 songs on my Samsung Galaxy through an SD card. That's what I use when I'm outside by my pool. I put my phone on the kitchen table and the bluetooth works right through the window.

The transmitter works off a standard Android charging cable. I just plug it in and charge it, and it works. You can also plug it into an outdoor outlet and leave it on. It will still work. That's what I suggest.

I do this... I use a cheap Chinese long range bluetooth transmitter and receiver from Amazon. Works great.
