OTA signal came back after Hopper 3 reboot. Why?

This is the error message I've been getting randomly on all of my OTA channels since at least June.

When it occurs you cannot do anything except go to the guide. Lately I've been seeing it pop up for a second and then the channel opens. Other times it stays stuck until I go to another channel and then back again. When a channel is really stuck I've had to re-boot my H3 or re-scan the OTA channels. The biggest problem comes when a program doesn't record because of this.

I have a service appt. scheduled for Fri.

Yep, that's what I see too.

Dish Tech. replaced my tuner dongle with a new one. Unfortunately I'm still randomly getting the error message and channel lockups. The only thing left is the Hopper.

Could be the hopper. I know I had an ota tuner hooked up to my hopper 3 and it would cause pixelation and audio drop outs on my locals on recorded shows. Same ota signal from the same ota antenna run to my splitter and then to my receivers. Moved same ota tuner to my Wally and it recorded like a charm with no problems. Recently reactivated my Hopper 3 and added another ota tuner to my Hopper and it still is suffering from audio drop outs and pixelation. So I think it could be my hopper that is causing the problems with my ota recordings.

I've never had to do a full rescan. I just usually start a recording on the DVR then tune to another channel.

I've been noticing is when I start getting dropouts, I change channel up and back down and they stop. Since I can't compare that to a situation where I don't change channels, the best could be done is if it also worked for someone else.

I think dish is on some bs in regards to ota reception. My 722k's and 211k,s both will report lost signal but a channel up and down change brings them back. The signal strength on these channels is 95-100 and happens on 2 different antenna systems.
The dish ota tuners have always been kind of lame as tv's connected never have any issues.
Seems hopper users have the same trouble.
More than likley bs firmware on there end?

Glad I have my Tablo ota dvr to back up my hopper3 on ota recordings. I get drop outs on my VHF station that comes in at 100%. I also get a digital freezes and sound drop outs on the first minute of a recording on this channel. I have to start all my ota recordings on this channel one minute early to avoid this . I don't have any problems with my Tablo using the same antenna feed.

WJET’s signal today was fluctuating all day today and the hopper3 had constant audio drop out and pixelation. Other channels were fine. The Tablo Quad had absolutely no problem with it.
At 8pm prime time WJET locked in a solid 100 and the hopper had no trouble. Unless the local signal is a solid QUALITY signal of 100 the hopper will have trouble locking it in. At least at my location. (4 miles from the towers with an indoor flat antenna no amp) Station studios always screwing around with the equipment.

I'm seeing something on my H3 w/dual tuner dongle. When I go to an OTA channel use the recall function I get a "attempting to acquire signal" screen that shows the signal strength at 100%. If I do a channel advance to another OTA channel it comes in fine and I can then do a channel back and it comes in just fine. Same things has happened when going to OTA channel via the guide. Entering the channel number directly has yet to cause issues.

I've rebooted the H3 and removed/replaced the OTA dongle. (have not tried any bagels yet)
Had same problem and also pix so I decided to buy another airtv module and everything was fine I thought for the first 3 days and now same problem. I agree whole heartily that the h3 is the problem. Had problems with it's connection with joey that was replaced as well. But u know dish cus serv, everything is the idiot owner problem. Took almost a year to fix joey problem and just needed new unit. Switching the usb ports is waste of time and u have to reboot.

My ota reception is back to normal on my vip stuff. Had to be something on there end as nothing on my end has changed. Maybe new firmware?
