OTA help

I have tried scanning for OTA channels several times and I can see the scan pausing on 7 or 8 channels, but nothing ever shows up in the list of channels that are supposed to be picked up. It always says 0 channels found, even the one OTA channel I do get (RF 48) doesn't show up in that list. It's on my PG and I can tune it in though. What should I do? Do I need a better antenna (I have the Winegard "wing" antenna mounted above the roof line).

Welcome. I do not know your location but go to www.antennaweb.org and post the list of channels that you are transmitting digitally in your area. Also, it will help if you can give us a list of which channels are in your mapping. That is which local channels are in your PG as of today.

Let's start with that. I am moving your thread to the Help Desk forum. Check our local forum to see if there is a thread of people close to your location. If not create one. Give this information first. Thanks and welcome again.

According to AntennaWeb:

WHLT-DT 58 CBS HATTIESBURG MS Currently Not Available 10.7 miles
WDAM-DT 7.1 NBC LAUREL MS 11.6 miles
WMAW-DT 44.1 PBS Meridian MS 59.9 miles

According to the WHLT website, they are broadcasting HDTV on RF 58. WDAM is on RF 28 and WMAW is on RF 44. There is also WLOX on RF 39 in Biloxi, MS which is roughly 50-60 miles away and WXXV on RF 48 which is about the same distance, but may not be active yet.

My zip is 39402 and WDAM 7.1 (RF 28) is the only one in my PG.

So I can assume that you have no problem with WDAM 7.1. WHLT and WMAW are not in your PG. It looks like both of these need to be added to your mapping.

It is possible that the OTA scanning function is not picking these because the PSIP data that is passed is not totally "there". Send me an email to Sean_Mota@satelliteguys.us with your full address and the fact that the above two stations need to be mapped to your PG. Please state in your email that WHLT is live even though antennaweb.org says otherwise.

I sent the information to VOOM to update your mapping. I've got a confirmation that it was sent to Tribune. Do not know how long it is going to take but give it two weeks and let's see what's going to happen.
