Ok, gonna try and explain this as best as possible.

There is one coaxial dropping down from the attic to a plate in my living room where the tv will be.

This would be the same cable my installer would use for the Dish sat cable run, its also a great spot to mount my OTA antenna. Is there a way I can combine the installers cable and the ota feed into one, tie it into the in wall cable, and then do something behind the tv to make the ViP pick up ota and sat feeds?

Thanks.

Thanks!

So ill just run the sat and antenna into a diplex, run that out to the single down the wall, then diplex out behind the tv. Perfect.

I have done this. You use two diplexors. Near the antennas, feed a sat coax and the OTA antenna coax into one diplexor. A single coax comes out. At the TV, one coax goes in, two come out, one marked OTA and the other, SAT.
