Long story short

We moved in with my in laws who have used an ota antenna their whole life...I got dish installed when we moved out...we are moving within a few weeks and i want to hook up their tv back to just ota in their bedroom (they dont want to pay for dish)

Hopper has an ota hooked up to it with the ota dongle in the living room...but when I unhooked the cable from the joey in their bedroom and put the cable to her tv like she had it in the past it could only find 9-1 and 9-2

Any reason why it did not find the other ota channels ???

There is a near-100% chance that the line to the Joey isn't connected to the OTA antenna. Are there two lines coming in to the Hopper? One to the back of the receiver and another to the dongle?

Yes there is...the one the installer put in when he wired the house that is connected to the hopper and then the ota one that my in laws have had for ages hooked up to the ota dongle

Yep. The installer took the line off the splitter the ota was running off of and repurposed it to his splitter or the node to run the joey.

Easy enough to undo if you know which line it is.

And this line is connected to the node probably under the house in the crawl space correct???...

I'm pretty sure that is where he put the node

So I know which wire it is how do I fix it???

Thanks for your help in advance

Just need to identify the line, remove it from the dish splitter/node and put it back on the ota splitter, then run your channel scan agin.

Went under the house the other day...I know which line it is...I see the dual node and the splitter...but I was unable to find the ota splitter. ..any clue where it could be or if the tech just used the ota splitter with the dual node instead of a different splitter...I for the life of me cant find the ota splitter

It's certainly possible that the installer removed it. What he/she did with it is unknown, of course.... I'm sure going into the crawl space isn't enjoyable, but splitters are just a few dollars. I'd have one in my pocket the next time I go under there, just in case !

Looks like the installer used the old splitter the in laws had under the house. ..but I think I find the problem

Last night I was able to scan and get the ota channels with the cable hooked up to the tv...they kept going in and out

Long story short the one connection on the splitter is bad and the installer did not even let me know...replacing the splitter today in hopes that does the trick
