Well, I have hit PAY DIRT! Got up this morning and run a direct coax from Terk antenna to back of receiver....no diplexers and did a test.
Got no channel 8 (ABC) on first scan of local channels.
Then deleted all channels and rebooted.
Then hooked up power injector amp to antenna and re-scanned.
PAY DIRT!
Hell, I even get 100 percent of channel 8 now and all other channels look great! Could only get 58% or absolutely nothing before!
Thanks for all the help! I might even get that antenna from Radio Shack to hook up to my patio TV......that is the one I am using as TV2 off this same receiver.
From what in understand (and correct me if I am wrong) you can not get the locals to the TV2 off an off air antenna fed to the main receiver. Correct?

Congrats! I never had a problem with the inline injector from my Terk.
I don't use my dvr in dual mode so I couldn't tell you whether OTA shows up on TV2.
Actually, there is a work around that let's you do this. Just start recording that OTA channel to your DVR on TV1. Then on TV2 you can watch the program from the DVR. Works well, just a few seconds lag.
Be happy it worked for you, using the Terk. If you ever need to replace that antenna, buy another brand. And remember, many/most UHF antennas will pick up high VHF (7-13) channels to some degree.
Thanks! I really have had great luck with the Terk antennas in the past......this is only my second one.
The first one I had was a Terk 50 and I just mounted it ona rafter in the attic and it worked flawlessly and it took up no room in my attic. I never even had to use the amp with it either. I was 60 miles away from the broadcast channels and I had crystal clear channels.
Now, when I moved I had to get something stronger since I am about 75 miles away from the towers. Read very strong reviews from the Terk HDTVo and decided to get another one. The thing is not very big, mounted it on a support beam in my attic up as high as I could get it and screwed it in with two screws. Other than finally getting channel 8, I would say the thing works great. Even that was a fault of the DISH receiver's tuner because my TV tuner worked with the Terk antenna with no problems at all.
I will probably get on of the Radio Shack antennas discussed in an earlier post and attach it to my bedroom TV to see how it compares and it will keep me from having to split my Terk antenna signal.
How much would I lose if I split the antenna signal to another TV? Any advice on how to do this with no/less signal loss? Power injector go before or after the split? Can I get another power injector and just add it at the receiver like I do now?

Splitter cuts signal strenght in half.
No, you can't change the laws of physics.
Power injector has to have nothing but maybe a ground block between it and the pre-amp. There are power passing splitters that have one leg that will pass injector power to the pre-amp.

Pre-amps can help pull in distant stations.
Something called a distribution amp can compensate to some degree for long coax runs or multiple taps off the same antenna.

Might split the antenna into an amplifier and see how it does going to two receivers.
Actually pre-amps are better for both jobs. The amplification should take place as close to the antenna as possible to avoid amplifying noise picked up in the cable.
