OTA Adapter Questions

The gist of the problem is the quantity of data required to fully cover every channel and sub-channel in the USA.

We here in Lubbock Texas have about 48 channels to keep track of and we are in the median of the pack

Larger cities have even more channels and the information on any one channel can and does change day by day and must be manually collected and/or uploaded by someone somewhere and it is not cheap to maintain such a monster then mesh it with Dish Networks channel guide.
Yep, I have scanned as many as 102 channels in the SF Bay Area.

That is done by the individual station. THEY get the information for their programming. THEY publish it (to both providers and their PSIP). MVPDs just need to collect it and pass it along.

The major network stations do a good job at providing the guide info and its mainly the ind stations that are bad at providing the guide info. My deal is with Dish not providing all the major network station guides for ota. If Dish has it for the local sat guide, then it should have it for the local ota guide. It is the same data for both and just needs to be linked up for both. Dish fails to do this in some areas like mine. I guess the hopper is only able to get the station guide info from the sat and not from the internet. If it could we could manually link the networks with the station’s channels like most tvs and ota tuners do like the Homerun and Tablo. Though Tablo is another story with Scripps owning it and for the ota section.

I add myself to this issuer here in Miami.
Up until 4 or 5 months ago, the OTA local guide was accurate. Then it changed to just showing the channel number and name in the guide.
As of 2 days ago, one of the channels, 39 (SCripps, I believe), now shows "Channel is no longer available" in the guide, but I can certainly tune to it.
Obviously, asking Dish for support on this is a waste of time, but it's frustrating, of course.
