Orby Goes Dry Camping

Took Orby and a GSP90cm into the Tahoe National Forest this weekend. While I play amateur radio, my wife is enjoying a few TV shows.

Note the Winegard adjustable tripod and modified GSP90 dish with wingnuts and washers to simply set-up and aiming. Takes approx. 10 minutes to assemble the reflector onto the mount, level and aim.

So much easier to use in the forest with signals coming off only one satellite. The 12Vdc powered receiver eliminates the need for running an inverter or the generator.

Our dry camp location is 20 miles West of Tahoe, looking at the west slope (back) of Squaw. 6900' and at least 20 degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.
