Hardrive is a 320 GB Western Digital that has been partitioned into 2 ~150 GB partitions. After connecting the hardrive, OpenBox kept re-booting itself. Had to shut off the receiver and remove the drive. Had this issue for sometime, got a new firmware from Gosatellite.com tech that did not help (will post the version later when I figure it out).

Have better results using a USB flash drive, 16GB. The problem is the receiver stops recording although plenty of space is free. When checked the menu options, the ones for USB are dimmed out. For some reason the receiver stops seeing the drive, then I have to remove the USB and insert it back in. Then I can record again. Thank you.

Is the drive powered from it's own power supply? If not, it may be drawing too much current from the receiver and causing the reboots.
You should also format the drive using the receiver itself.

Not sure about the Openbox, but some devices such as FTA receivers can't recognize or have trouble with multiple partitions on a drive.

old firmware had a menu choice for which partition to use for this and that,so probably not a factor.
Use a good externally powered usb case.

My s10 reboots every time I try to drive my ku motor with it. Also when it finds DVB-s2 signals. I am pretty sure my power supply is no good. Try driving a motor with it and see if it shuts off.

That is a feature not a defect..... ;)
