Thanks for all the advice.
The delay in responding is because I have no internet
where the dish is located.
When entering the transponder code it also lists a Ks value.
Is this the value shown in Lyngsat list or is it found somewhere else.

What size dish should I go for?
Should I keep trying KU or is C band a better option.

The main reason for this project is to bypass pay for vue service (Shaw in my case)
I have OTA in my home and am quite happy with the 20 plus stations
but my cottage is located in a no OTA signal local.

Depending on your tastes C band will likely yield you more channels. Minimum recommended size is usually 8ft but bigger is better if you can get it. You can set up both KU and C band dishes with a diseqc switch.

Not sure what a "Ks value" is. Would you give the context of the text or snap a screen shot?

FORTEC STAR 120cm 1.2m KU Band Offset Dish Antenna Model FC120CM has been replaced by the new WS1247 and WS1247M. This is perfect for KU and C Band satellites. The HH120 Motor is recommened to be used with this dish!!! Local pick up only.

When I go to the transponder list to add a transponder it has the
first line which is the frequency beam , then it has a space for what appears to be DVB-S2 # 30000 ?
then has a line space for the V or H.
If I don't enter that second number will it still detect the signal?

I use a 90cm (36") Fortec Star dish for my motorized setup. It has worked well for several years. I have heard that the quality of some 1.2m and 1.8 solid dishes is questionable (thin metal, easy to rust) but can't comment about the specific models you mentioned as I have no experience with them. I can say that in general a 1.2m (48)" dish is highly desired for a ku setup. On the other hand, a mini-bud (the term used to describe an undersized c band dish) will likely be disappointing if you are expecting to get all the channels that are in the clear on c band. Not saying don't try it, especially if you can get one for free/cheap, but if I was paying full price for a dish I'd go with the minimum recommended (or bigger ) to maximize my investment.

I'm not Titanium, but I can tell you that yes, that number is needed, and you would not lock on a signal without it
It's called Symbol rate, and basically it represents the amount of data per second that is being transmitted. Note that it can be off by a few digits, so don't worry if you receiver detects 29999 and Lyngsat says 30000, it's all good. Likewise, the frequency can differ by a few MHz.

about the Fortec Star 120cm, I don't have experience but I will tell you that a seller who advertises a 120cm dish as "perfect for C-Band" is not someone I would trust. This said there are some parts of the world that have some stronger C-Band service so in that context it might be true, but in that specific context only (Venesat in South America, some Russian satellites in Europe).

Thanks for all the help, was going for a bigger dish to capture KU. have uploaded the update and it has most of what I wanted and I now can add the rest. One last try before I put in a bigger dish. Not giving up yet, in fact this is become a bit of challenge and is addictive. Back up to the cottage tomorrow. thanks again jack
