OK... this is a really personal-opinion question - and I know that going in... but that being said...

There are two days left to take advantage of the free sat equipment deal from Sirius... really, a day and a half.

Do I really need this thing?

I mean... I love electronic gadgets... I have sat TV... but I'm trying to figure out if I need another $12 per month bill in my life. (really, $14.58 per month - for the first year if you figure in the shipping, tax, and activation.

I signed up for the 7-day free online trial today and I've been listening all day. Its nice... but is it worth the fee?

All you Sat radio fans... tell me your experience... why should I get this?

thanx in advance for your replies.

ONE OTHER QUESTION: How is the sound quality using the built in FM transmitter? My radio has XM sat controls... not Sirius.

Let me just say, I will never own a car without satellite radio again.

I have XM in my car and a PCR at work.

Thanks to SatelliteGuys, I have Sirius in my wife's car. Both services are outstanding. Most people buy for the music, but I usually listen to the talk, comedy, & sports channels.

Give it a try, If you don't like it then you can always sell your equipment and get some of your money back.

Edit:
The two main satellite radio forums are:

http://www.xmfan.com
http://www.siriusbackstage.com

They both can give you more opinions than you need.;)

See, now, if there was PCR for Sirius then I could see added value... but I haven't seen anything - just for XM...

I am going to want to record Howard (when avail) and listen on my own schedule because the work place is not appropriate for Howard, uncensored.

I suppose your decision is really based on on much you enjoy the MUSIC and how much your despise commericals. I've been listening to radio for over 40 years. I really miss what we called album rock or when the DJ would sorta take you on a musical experience. Really nice. :yes

Today, Sirius is liken to a smorgasbord or buffet. Picture yourself cruising along listening to your mood music and the thought or feelings change and you want something completly opposite. On Sirius it's already covered, the 'other song' or other 'type' of music is sitting not far away.

This is not to mention all the other nice and informative stuff that have, like news, sports, talk, weather, traffic, etc.

I don't dislike DJ's, but when they announce the station call letters a hundred times in an hour, it drive me crazy. And, half of them aren't really familiar with the music they are playing. Nothing against younger than me people, but I might have a problem with a twenty something DJ telling me something about the Beatles.

Go with Sirius!
