Hello,

I have a 612 receiver that I shuttle between my house and a small vacation cabin. At home I have an eastern arc dish setup, at the cabin a dish 500. Recently when hooking up the receiver at the cabin, I get a message that the receiver cannot locate the satellites, testing the switch used to work resetting the receiver to the 500 and giving me some live channels and the DVR, since receiving the new error message, testing the switch does not work. I called an installer at the cabin location who tells me he a clear shot to the new locations is blocked by trees.

Is there any solution to this?

thanks

Could you edit your post so it is clear what your problem is? Are you changing from WA to EA at the vacation home? Did you suddenly lose line of sight? Are you changing vacation site to 1000.4 from a dish 500?

This statement is rather confusing! Are you saying that your installer at the cabin claims you have no LOS to EA? And your D500 WA is also without LOS? I'd say you have but one solution, and that is to trim those trees in one direction or another. You should have an easier time trimming the trees for the EA sats, since the elevation angle is greater. But it all depends upon your trees and where they are relative to the dish.

Sorry for the confusion, I asked the installer for an EA setup at the cabin. There is no LOS to the EA satellites. The dish 500 uses 110 and 119, no LOS problem to those orbital locations. The trees in question are not on my property, and are quite tall.

I don't have the actual error code but it is something like "check switch found fewer satellites than last time, and I should contact dish or my installer". I used to be able to run check switch and it would accept dish 500 settings, I cant get it to do this anymore.

That message is just telling you that instead of the 3 satellites on the eastern arc it is only seeing 2 satellites 110 & 119 from the western arc. There should be a little more to the message somethining like an option to accept.

I would run checkswitch on the receiver with NO lnb's connected to completely clear the switch matrix, then connect it to the D500 and run it again.
