but yeah, I am psyched to be getting the new HR24 so I can at least see if I just got unlucky with a faulty model, and it will be nice to convince my wife there's no choice but to buy the cords ;o)

Did you consider upgrading to Whole Home DVR for MRV over coax. You'd get upgraded to SWiM and DECA and the there would be no need to run the cables if you got the WHD with Internet Connection Kit.

I had this setup originally. It had to be removed bc my dish was too far from the SWM and it was not getting enough power and I was losing satellite signal intermittently.
