Omar Vizquel breaks Luis Aparicio record

Great accomplishment to an outstanding player and person. Congrats Omar!

Personally, I fell blessed to have been able to witness Vizquel during the peak of his career in an Indians uniform 1993-2003. During the 10 years in Cleveland, he compiled 8 gold gloves (11 total in career). Watching him field the ball was absolutely poetry in motion. And when Vizquel and 2B Robbie Alomar were paired together for three years (1999-2001), OMG! What an absolute treat to witness night in and night out! I am convinced that type of greatness will never be witnessed again in my lifetime.

Omar means so much to the city of Cleveland and his legacy will remain forever. He also represented the last of the remaining pieces from the great Tribe teams in the newly built Jacob's Field Era during the 90's. (Albert Belle, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez all left before Omar).

I am greatly looking forward to the inter-league pairing of the Giants @ Cleveland game on June 24-27th. He will undoubtedly get an extremely long standing ovation that is setup to be a quite emotional return to his home stadium of Jacob's Field. (Progressive Field to some). See you in June Omar!

He is definitely one of the best. He might not be as good as he was with Cleveland, but he is still throwing some serious leather out in SF.

Well at 41-years of age, that is a great testament to Omar's athleticism and hard work. Trust me, if you've ever seen current Tribe SS (Jhonny Peralta), you don't even realize how much Cleveland misses this guy in the field!
