I asked the question yesterday, that I have a 4K HD TV that was not supported by HDR connected to the Hopper 3. I could not watch what is on channel 540. I also have a 4K HD TV HDR supported connected to the 4K Joey. I switched the two Vizio's, where the one that was HDR Supported to the Hopper 3, and low and behold I got that channel on that television. The Vizio that was 4K not supported by HDR would show an error and told me that I had to go to mydish.com/4K for other viewing options. Now, I am hearing, that there is going to be a Joey 4 that will be compatable with the 4K HDR, but the 4K Joey is not. I tried telling the CSR or Tech Support that I was having 4K viewing issues, but I really do not think they were getting what I was asking. But switching the two Vizios corrected the Issue with 4K.The 2018 Winter Olympics in 4K HDR were perfect on the Hopper3. The only problem was that the 4K Joey was unable to watch it.
I really believe that the current problem is that the Olympics is being broadcast in Dolby Vision. But the Hopper3 can only support HDR10. HDR10 supports a brightness of 1000 nits where Dolby Vision supports a brightness of 10000 nits. Of course my TV does not even support Dolby Vision.

Yeah, legacy 4K TVs without HDR are a problem. I have 2 4K TVs that both have HDR capability. The one on my H3 works just fine. The one on my 4K Joey doesn’t get the HDR channel. You just can’t win. Maybe the Joey 4 will be the answer but who knows when we might see one.I asked the question yesterday, that I have a 4K HD TV that was not supported by HDR connected to the Hopper 3. Yeah, nothing there. So far we have tennis and some golf. Beginning on Sunday there is wrestling and that will carry through Thursday. I am not impressed with this coverage at all.I'm not seeing anything in the Dish 4K channels in guide for gymnastics or swimming, weird.
Agreed. Adding the dedicated channels got our hopes up for some wall-to-wall coverage. Oh well....Yeah, nothing there. So far we have tennis and some golf. Beginning on Sunday there is wrestling and that will carry through Thursday. I am not impressed with this coverage at all.
It's a typical Dish 4K picture, sharp but dark.for those that can view the Olympics, how is the picture?
is it an upgrade that is noticeable?
Sounds very much like the transition from 480 to 1080These are crazy days we are living in where these giant media companies withhold a major technological innovation from national distribution. I am enjoying some of the programming, but I am not enjoying the non 4K picture quality. These companies that do this suck.
On a separate note, my LG 4K TV has different adjustments for HDR. Since there has not been any 4K in like forever I adjusted the picture for HDR on my LG 4K set for the first time. I've had the TV for 4 years. I've been watching a 4K TV for 4 years without 4K!
It is not dark at all on YTTV, this is live right now-It's a typical Dish 4K picture, sharp but dark.
While one picture does not tell the whole story, looks kind of murky, like the fine detail is washed out, what are your settings and what kind of TV?This is what the Tennis looked like this morning at 4 am on DISH in 4K HDR. View attachment 152840

Where did you read it's upscaled 1080p?I figured out my 4K HDR picture issue on my TCL Series 6 TV.
I pressed * on my remote and it show I was set to HDR Dark. I changed it to HDR Normal, and the picture is a LOT better now.
Watching 4K Golf now and the grass is GREEN. . Not the best quality 4K I have seen, but considering its upscaled 1080p its not that bad.
That was on YTTV, they are showing a lot more content from the Olympics then Dish.I'm not in front of my Hopper 3, did the swimming show up in the Guide?
Yep-Where did you read it's upscaled 1080p?
