I was sent a tape of Old Charlie chats from back in 1997. Man a flash from the past. Its ironic to see how many issues they were having back then, versus the issues they are having now, with the high def upgrade.

It was enjoyable to see Charlie and the gang be so nice to customers and really be thankful for their business. This has been lost over the years. Also the package pricing WOW. If charlie wanted to get some business they should run a promo, 1997 pricing w/ free hd for 6 months w/ a two year commitment. That would gain some traction!

For those who want to watch the entire episode, I have it posted here.

Thanks Bob, it looks like you did a good job with my old VHS tape.

Evidently, this was the 3rd Charlie Chat, and the second one with live phone calls.

PS I see that youtube now allows some videos of more than 10 minutes...

Scott - any reason not to move this thread to The Dish Network Forum ?

Sign me up for that top 40 package. Makes you realize how media entertainment has exploded in our lifetime.

We had to have that to have what we have today. Thanks Charlie! Love my AT120, HD for life, and 722 DVR! $39/month!

Yea if you want your tape back, pm me with your address and Ill send it back. BTW are there any more chats on the video, I haven't taken the time to fast forward it to see. I reckon Ill do that tomorrow or later on today sense its midnight! :)

BTW for those who don't know, I really do love charlie and look up to him as a business man and a person. The reason why I'm publicly so harsh on him is because I know dish can do better than what they are doing. I dont agree with the way he runs things, but he has done a good job somewhat. I know if he does the things I say he needs to do, he would defiantly gain some market share, and dish would be a stronger more competitive company when compared against fios and directv.

Right now big mistake #1 is not HDRSN's (thats #2) #1 is the lack of mpeg4 transition on WA (110, 119). That should have started 2 months ago! If they reclaimed that bandwidth, then they could easly do #2!

211's become the new 311's, along with the capability to turn a 211 into a dvr /w the enabling fee! Nice touch!

as for your suggestion of WA being all MPEG4: Yes, and he would have a much better chance of not having to pay TiVo any licensing fees.

I'm surprised he has not already started on at least the premiums and AT250 channels. Really, I'm betting most of the people that are paying that much for TV have already picked up an HD set. If they haven't by now, they probably won't for a while.

Anyone been audited lately?
