McAlester, OK
Who has them? I have a few questions and I guess the biggest one is, do they cover McAlester in their news cast's, specifically the weather?

Be aware if you are thinking of "moving" that KFOR forgets to switch to hd or just drops the hd feed quite often.

Thanks for the tip osu. I really don't want to do this but I just havent heard a good time frame for Tulsa HD's to go live, and I hate missing quite a few shows and of course the weekend sporting events in HD. Once Tulsa goes live, I will "move" back.

Most of the time HD is better than no HD ;)

I understand completely, I don't expect to see Tulsa until after the 129 replacement is launched. If you turn your antenna towards the Ada/Madill area you may be able to get 10 and 12 from down there they do a great job with FOX,CBS, and NBC hd. They also provide weather info for the McAlester area. I have some property my mother lives on south of Ada around Pontotoc and have watched them do a good job with their digital offerings.

I completely agree Digi! The wife still isnt very keen on losing her morning shows and news broadcasts that we are so used to out of Tulsa.

osu, I don't have an antenna, but I may see if I can pick one up that could pull in those stations.

It has been a while, so I am not sure but I think Ralfguy has posted before that he could pull them in with an antenna in McAlester. I think he can get some from Ft. Smith also. I know any hd is better than no hd. It drives me crazy going to Ada during the football season and not having an ABC affiliate so no Big 12 games. Sometimes I can pull in KTUL from Tulsa or WFAA from Dallas down there but never when I am really wanting to so I get stuck with the sd feed from Tulsa on Dish.

Yeah well lets hope Dish get's Tulsa HD Locals added soon and I know Tulsa was on their list of city's..

I hardly ever see KFOR forget to flip the switch, so I'm not sure that statement is true. Only time they don't show HD is if there's election results or school closings...which the rest do anyways.

I live in Ada but "moved" to OKC. I love the OKC locals. They do a great job on HD and especially do great with weather. Channels 10 and 12 just don't cut it.

When I put my big antenna up I can get the UHF OKC stations here in Wichita Falls, TX in good weather. It is one of those 9' UHF antennas that Radio Shack used to sell. Very directional but it will work for both Dallas and OKC depending which way it is pointed.

I have OKC locals on my second dish account and hate them so I may be prejudiced in my opinion but KFOR does drop HD often when I have tried to watch them which is rarely as I am only in Ada once a month. Weathermen are very close to terrorists :D in my opinion If we could get ABC HD in the Ada dma I wouldn't have bothered with OKC locals. I have helped many people in the ADA dma that have moved to get OKC locals and Tulsa locals. Tulsa's spotbeam drops off around the Pontotoc/Johnson County line so most go with OKC.
