We took a drive today and on the way home we had to stop in our local Sams Club.

We picked up what we needed and then headed to the registers to check out. As we were doing this the manager was bringing a flat bed of clearence merchandise.

My wife went and looked and said there was nothing good, and then I went over and looked and I got the buy of the year!

I lifted some of the boxes and at the bottom was a Sony VPL AW15 HD Projector. I picked it up to take a look and the manager told me that the projector just came in about an hour ago, he thinks the guy who returned it purchased it to use for a presentation and then returned it when he was done.

The regular Sams Club price on the unit was $1295 however he marked it down to $600!

I grabbed my iPhone and checked a few web sites and found this was a great deal. As I picked up the box to take it the manager said their was another box for it as well. Out he came with a long box he said I don't even thing the guy opened this one... It was a BRAND NEW... NEVER OPENED Sony VPS-80DS 80 Inch DynaClear Screen!

I said how much is it... he said it's included!

So I got home and set it up. AMAZING! Sure its only 720p but the PQ is AMAZING. I checked the lamp life from the info screen and the lamp only had 1 hour of use on it!

I did some searching around and the internet and the going price on the projector new is around $1049 and the screen is $400!

What an amazing deal for only $600!

I have wanted a projector forever but my wife would never let me get one until today!

No idea where I am going to use it, my house is way to small to set it up permanetly. But for family gatherings, school events and special events this projector will do the trick! :)

The reviews of this projector look excellent...

Even the reviews at AVSforum gave it some big thumps up!

I wasn't planning on spending $600 today, but I am happy I ran into this deal. I might have broken our budget (with the wifes blessing) but this could be my home theater deal of the year!

Wow!! That is a great deal.

I have been looking at fp but all of my walls are too light and the wife will not let me paint the master bedroom just for a fp ( go figure:p).

Sounds like a great deal Scott....now when the wife sees something she likes you can't say "we can't afford that honey" :p

Actually, most times, Scott tells me to buy stuff that I don't necessarily want to spend money on. He thinks I don't buy enough for myself. I can honestly say, that during the entire time we have been married, he has never denied me anything. I am the frugal one. :)

Wow Scott wish I ran into deals like that.

Not a bad deal... :) When it gets warm you can have some outdoor movie showings in the back yard after dark...
Thats what I really want to use it for. :)

I want to go out somewhere with the screen, set up a sound system, a portable satellite dish and the projector then watch a movie or an event under the stars. :)

I can't imagine how cool that will be. :)

You just thought you were going to save money... Now you have to get a sound system, an amp, new satellite receiver, etc...

Nice pickup Scott!

Now imagine how pissed the "retail fraud guy" will be when he comes back tommorrow to re-buy it as "open box" and it is already sold :D

Just kidding, but there are some schmucks that try that stuff.

80" screen may be a bit small :D

I love Sam's. I have agreat story about them. I bought a 47" Philips LCD from them about a year and a half ago. It began to lose sound sometimes and i would have to cut it back off and then back on. Sam's in my area still has that great return policy so I took it back. I originally paid $1700 dollars for it and I exchanged it for a 47" JVC LCD that was $1500. They gave me a $200 gift card for the difference. I got the new TV home and hooked it up and this TV SUCKED. The sound was horrible and this surprised me since it was a JVC. The picture was okay but nowhere near the quality of my Philips. I called them back and asked if I could take this one back and get my old TV back, since they didn't have anything else that was comparable. They told me yes, so I took back. I got there thinking that it would be a simple exchange. They told me that they couldn't do just do a simple exchange, but they had to sell my old TV back to me. When she rand it up my old TV was now$1200. So in short I ended up with the same TV I started the day with plus a $500 gift card.

That would be great Gregg, but still have no idea when I am going to use it or where. You know how tiny my house is.

I am planning on doing some stuff outside though with it, and also will volunteer at my sons school and host a Movie night. (Did it last year and had 200 people show up...) had my popcorn machine going full blast also had full surround sound setup and it worked great in the schools gym. :)

Now that I have a HD projector I can do it again but this time in HD. :)
