We have 1-722k and 2-612's in the house(leased). The one 612 I posted awhile back about the fan running constantly, etc finally appears to have went into meltdown. Receiver would freeze, rebooting a couple of times did bring it back up but after the one reboot it came up with the error screen for overheating and the temperature at that moment was 138 F. And no,there was no air flow restrictions. Now it won't even allow a system info screen.

If you could give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated. The 2-612's went into service November 2009. The other 612 is showing signs of going south soon like the dead one, freezing for example. I do have the service contract.

My question is should I stay with the present equipment setup or should I upgrade? Prices are a concern here as I am on a fixed income(disability due to stroke). I cannot do a contract with Dish as they refuse to adjust my payment date(11 other creditors accepted,Dish only one to refuse). So such things as HD-FFL cost me $99. Presently my Dish bill runs $175.00 per month. I have been with Dish at this location since Nov. 1999.

Just get up with one of the DIRT team and they can guide you in the right direction.:)

Ok let me ask this a different way.

  1. Can a 612 accommodate picture in picture?
  2. From what I understand a 722k will do PIP?
  3. If I replace the 2-612's with a single 722k,will it allow PIP?
  4. Are 2-722's allowed to replace the 2-612's?
  5. Will a 1000.4 dish work with the Hopper system?
  6. Will the current wiring work with a Hopper system?
  7. With a Hopper system what would be recommended, 1 Hopper-3 Joeys or 2 Hoppers-2 Joeys.

You can lease up to 3 722 receivers.
Yes. The 1000.4 dish should work.
Yes. The current wiring should work for the Hopper system. Should be RG6.
I recommend 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys.

1. No

3. Yes
4. Yes. If you mean with no upgrade fee possibly, but it always depends on the account, payment record, packages etc.... Since you already have one 722 there should be no problem.
5. Yes
6. No.
7. Two Hoppers and the number of Joey's you want based on what you now have.
