OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

looks like Dish is gonna see a mass decrease in subs in the next few months. this might be the straw that broke the camels back for most Dish customers who cares about sports and FX and Nat Geo.

edit: what's on 136 now, is it one of the movie channels

ANY IDEA WHICH MOVIE CHANNEL IS ON 136 NOW?THANK YOU FOR REPLIES:)...IM VERY TEMPTED TO GO TO DIRECT TV:rant::mad:

now that we know that we lost these channels, the bigger question is, How long until they resolve the dispute, and will it lead to a lawsuit for there refusal to keep carrying these channels.

As I posted earlier HDNET Movies is in place of FX (136) on the SD channel and a SD feed of HD Theatre is on the NATGEO SD channel (186) as well as the non Fox-owned RSNs from the sports pack on 9660 and above.

EDIT: They just turned on the HD versions of the replacement channels on 136 & 186 as well, at least for me but I have the channels anyway in platinum. Any non-platinum subs getting them in HD?

well as of the time shown above nat geo and fx are still being shown on dish. don't get any fox rsn so i don't know about them.

does that mean there was a settlement in that the contract expired at 3 this morning?

what your seeing right now on FX is HDNet movies and Nat Geo is showing HD Theater, meanwhile Nat Geo Wild is now gone from Dish, i guess they were also on the dispute list but wasn't mention. also the FSN regional networks are now showing a slate for a couple of seconds followed by a video message from Cheapskate Charlie.

sweet. Now they are offering me 20 additional channels that "I'm already paying for".
How about offering us Free PPV until the matter is solved.

then the movie companies, UFC & other MMA promotions, boxing promotions, porn companies, WWE & TNA Wrestling would get mad that people are seeing the PPVs for free.

this Dispute is another example of why greed is bad. and why the FCC needs to make some changes to where carriage disputes must not happen again. but sadly the lobbyist for the TV networks would find a way to make sure those rules/laws aren't pass.

PR: FOX BLOCKS REGIONAL SPORTS CHANNELS FROM DISH NETWORK VIEWERS

FOX BLOCKS REGIONAL SPORTS CHANNELS FROM DISH NETWORK VIEWERS

Programmer Seeks to Shake Down DISH Network and its Customers with Massive Rate Increase

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – (NASDAQ: DISH) - Oct. 1, 2010 – DISH Network L.L.C. reports today that FOX Networks is blocking DISH Network’s access to 19 FOX Regional Sports Networks and other programming. FOX is demanding a new contract with an unprecedented rate increase of more than 50 percent. FOX’s removal of the channels follows the programmer’s national TV, print and web advertising campaign designed to intimidate DISH Network and its customers into paying the rate increase. FOX has flatly refused DISH Network’s request to allow customers to continue to watch these FOX channels during the negotiations.

These negotiations with FOX do not affect local FOX TV stations, FOX News or FOX Business News.

“DISH Network is not going to allow FOX or any programmer to bully our customers into paying such an unconscionable price increase,” said Dave Shull, senior vice president of Programming for DISH Network. “FOX has a long history of trying to shake down pay TV providers, including Cablevision, Time Warner, and Bright House.”
Shull continued, “Our customers should not be held hostage in order to finance FOX’s irresponsible acquisition of sports rights. Consumers are already burdened enough in this challenging economy."

DISH Network will continue to negotiate in good faith for a fair deal with FOX to help restore the sports programming and prevent outrageous rate increases in this challenging economic environment. In the meantime, during the FOX lockout, DISH Network will make the following channels available to all affected customers at no additional charge: HD Net Movies, HD Theater, NBA TV, New England Sports Network, NFL Network, NHL Network, Altitude Sports, Big Ten Network, Comcast SportsNet California, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, Comcast Sports Network Mid-Atlantic, Comcast Sports New England, ESPN Classic, FOX Sports Northwest, FOX Sports Pittsburgh, FOX Sports Rocky Mountain, Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, Mid-Atlantic Sports Network2, SportsNet New York, and SportsTime Ohio.
DISH Network has created a series of websites to help inform consumers about the nature of this dispute:

www.WeOfferedFoxAFairDeal.com,
www.FoxRefused.com,
www.HowMuchMoreCanWeTake.com,

Uh, come on people, imagine each one of 15 million Dish subscribers posting in this thread:

" I do watch this channel, I don't watch that one ... "

Puhleaz ! Why could you possibly even think that the thousands of SatelliteGuys members care whether each one of the thousands of members watch FX, NatGeo and Fox Sports ?

Maybe I should start posting in every thread what I had for each meal of the day ??

Well I just had eggs and bacon this morning for breakfast. What did you have Stuart?;)

I called and talked to someone who could not give me credit or anything but did charge me 2 bucks for ktla to be added. I told the woman with the indian accept that hey since I just lost FX how about a credit but nooooooooooooo she had no authority to do that.

F me for calling to get a credit and actually increased my bill, lol. But I do like having ktla again.

According to E*'s propaganda site; Fox wasn't budging from a 50% rate increase. (Link: DISH VS Fox)

As far as the temporary replacement programming.... glad they chose HDNet Movies over the one I was assuming it was going to be (Universal HD)

Incidentally, the free ESPN Classic and free (other) RSN's only show for customers that lost an RSN (or I need a reboot)
