OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

lol @ E*'s scrolling spam during HD programming.

This isn't a forum board where non registered members see adds

So you want to give us a message, aye? How about do what busineses do and send out mailers? Oh, Charlie wants to save $150,000 by not sending out a letter via postal mail.

How about emails? I never received an email or postal mail due to this FOX concern. Way to go DISH, just leave a customer out of the loop. :tux:

*Dish raises programming packages $10-$15 ("Charlie how dare you raise our rates", "I didn't want FX back in the first place")

$10-$15? For there to be a $15 programming price increase, presuming Fox is asking for a 50% increase and Dish agreed and passed the full cost of the increase on to the consumer, Fox would have to be currently getting $30 per month, with Dish agreeing to give them $45 per month instead.

I think it's a tad less than that.

More likely, Fox gets $2.00/month (or so) and that would increase to $3/month, resulting in an increase of $1, which while undesirable, is a far cry from $10-$15.

I may be acting childish and stupid but I get some major credit IMO.
I predicted the drop of FX-HD like 3 months ago. I knew E*'s HD lineup was TOO good. Best in the industry, IMO. It seemed like it was too good to be true :(

Ok here is your credit. I think you've told us a million times you predicted it. Congrats.

So who is broadcasting on FX and NatGeo now

OK So I'm seeing round the clock movies on FX now but series like SofA, Terriers etc. are pulled from the menus. NatGeo is running some Baja event showing the HD Theatre logo in the corner. Is this Dish or Fox just teasing us?

Hard to understand.

From what I know. FX and NatGeo's programming will NOT change. SofA, Terries, Sunny, The League, Movies, etc. are still active on FX.

Dishnetwork's guide still lists FX and NatGeo.

When you tune into FX, you get HDNet Movies.
When you tune into NatGeo, you get NatGeo Wild.

As far as providers of NatGeo and FX, I would go to the company's website. directv.com, dishnetwork.com, att.com, verizon.com, cox.com etc.

Hopefully I answered it OK. :p

New approach

Here's a new approach at this problem. Who are the big advertisers on the FSN, NatGeo, & FX? Maybe we should spend our time emailing those people to say we can no longer see their ads since Fox is no longer carried on E*. State that this has taken place on cable companies not to long in the past as well. That since we can't see the ads any more we won't be buying their products. I wonder if Bud, Coors & few others might just go to other program providers if they see quite a few of these emails?

I think the person is a little 'slow'.

haha. Well duh, I even addmited it.
I have a learning disabilty.

You should be my teacher, you'd throw me out for asking 20 questions about the same single algebra problem.

Edit: To further agree with you. Bet I could not even do an algebra problem and I'm an adult

You would think whoever is in charge of buying these advertising slots on Fox, etc... pays real close attention to these types of situations. So they know and probably already have a plan in place when dealing with their contract. I'm sure Fox charges based on the amount of viewers. And when you lose all the potential viewers from a national provider like Dish Network, the advertiser is not going to pay as much.

Interesting. Good reading.

In my opinion if Dish no longer has rights to broadcast channels and they continue to charge us for them they are making a bigger profit.

You think? :)

Charlie was hoping you wouldn't notice. The only good thing is that now he probably won't raise rates as quickly or as steeply as he might have been planning. Makes no difference to him whether his profits go up at your expense (i.e. by dropping channels) or at the broadcasters' expense (i.e. by not paying rate increases).

Had to be two of the channels that I watch almost daily :(

for years, I've never really 'cared' about the deletion of channels. I never watched the channels that were deleted. This time, it hurt :(

lol.

What else is there to speak about? How to resolve a confict between two (2) billion dollar companies? :p
