OFFICIAL DISH / FOX ORDEAL DISCUSSION THREAD

In the current dispute Fox is asking for higher prices for its channels.
DISH Network is tring to keep its prices lower for customers. FOX is the villan here, direct your anger towards them.

Why isn't Direct Tv having disputes over pricing? Seems to always be cheapskate Charlie.

Okay... As of now, I still see FX and the Nat Geo channels on my guide... Thought they were gonna be gone by today?

Or...? What exactly is going on? Is it just the sports stuff? Or are Nat Geo and FX still on the line?

Like the 4th time I've said this..

Please tune into the channels.

FX is now HDNet Movies
NatGeo is now NatGeo Wild

CSR's words don't mean anything. I trust a stranger on a forum more than a trust a CSR.

Just got off the phone, my contract is up in June 2011
So they say.. they could be wrong. 4 different CSR's could tell me 4 different answers :p

My email to the CEO:

Today I no longer have Fox Sports Midwest -- and I specifically have the Top 120+ package (instead of the Top 120) to get that very channel. I am NOT happy about loosing that channel because that means missing St. Louis Cardinals baseball games as well as Missouri Tiger football (and soon to be basketball) games!!! I fully expect a $5 monthly credit until this issue gets resolved OR please downgrade me to the Top 120 package WITHOUT me paying the normal $5 fee to downgrade. Just in case you don't realize, the ONLY difference between the Top 120 and the Top 120+ is the regional sports channel (and in my case that is Fox Sports Midwest) and now I no longer get that channel! So I'm currently paying an extra $5 month for nothing -- and I cannot downgrade my package (to avoid this) without paying a $5 fee. My account number is {redacted}. I look forward to this getting corrected quickly!

I might be wrong, but for those wanting to know there contract staus, didnt dish put up a link on the customers account page??

Hopefully for the Dish customers out there, this gets resolved especially for those who want to see there local teams, as many now dont air any OTA anymore

Well hoo-ray for form letters....

Here is the response I got from my email to Dish Network;

Dear Valued DISH Network Customer,

Thank you for your recent communication regarding your channel.

We regret that FOX Networks, the owner of some Regional Sports Networks, FX and National Geographic Channel, removed their channels from the DISH Network line-up. FOX has demanded a rate increase of more than 50%. An increase this large would force DISH Network to pass these costs on to our customers, which we are unwilling to do during these tough economic times.

We know these channels are important to you which is why during the FOX Sports lock-out, we're pleased to bring you 20 additional sports channels at no cost. We assure you that we are doing everything possible to restore these channels. In the meantime, you will not miss a single MLB playoff game or NFL Game. The Solutions Tab has a full list of alternative sports options available to you while we continue to negotiate with FOX.

DISH Network will continue to work tirelessly for a fair agreement in order to bring these channels back at the earliest possible time. Feel free to share your thoughts and concerns by e-mailing us at
president@dishnetwork.com. We assure you that we will read every e-mail we receive.

Thank you for your patience during this process and for being a valued DISH Network customer.

Sincerely,

DISH Network

Color me unimpressed.

Not true. Our local ABC affiliate was off D* for almost a year because of a dispute and Dish had it the whole time in HD. This same local still doesn't have dolby which tells you something about them also.

Has anyone that is a Platinum HD subscriber had any luck contacting Dish about offering them some kind of discount since we are getting shafted, I mean they are giving us HD Net Movies and HD Theatre for "free" but we are still having to pay for them. I tried to get this point over to a CSR on a chat, but he kept giving me canned responses about they did not know when FX and National Geo would be back, even though I was not asking about that, I was asking for a discount on Platinum HD. They must all share a brain, and he did not have it today.

Who F'ing cares about sports and RSNs.

I want my FX and NatGeo back!

:p

Whoops... Didn't know I needed to scan through the 30 pages of rants to find out... Thanks for taking the time again to tell me :) .

Yeah... lol... That's pretty messed up. At least re-name the channel to what it actually is...

Actually... just tuned into "NTGEO" and it's HD Theater. Same channel as 5710 (which anyone can get) and 9421. Least we now can get SD feeds of those channels now :D .

If you want to see the game it's on FSN RM channel 414, but only in SD (another real gem from Dish). In fact, they didn't even have the game on the other night. Guess since neither mad the playoffs they think no one cares. I'd call and demand the $5 reduction. They have no defense for that and I'll bet their phones are off the hooks already about it.

Curious to know if they are actually allowing you to access the channels they claim they are substituting. If the Mizzu-CU game is on FSN you can have my feed if it's anything like the last couple of years.

I thought about this ASAP. I agree.

Not to mention I hate sports. The 16 free RSNs? that I just received does NOTHING for me. I will not even watch them for a split micro second.

I already sub. to HDNet Movies and HD Theatre...

ha! Good one.

I'm sure some of us are 'blacked out' or limited because we're not local to that city. Silly Dishnetwork, how about GIVING US SOME MONEY BACK?

You can keep your Sports crap, give me some money.

Versus not ring a bell?

I do not need a virus:angel:

Fox picked the wrong fight. dish network really is not for sport fans and as such will only lose 2% of the customer base at worst.
dish mostly applies to movie buffs of folks who need foreign language programs.

For instance in the San francisco bay area dish has a lot of dish Latino subscribers. Now if dish had a dispute with galavision then dish could see a drop of it's subscription base in the bay area by 50%.
