hoover, al
Hey all, sorry for a possible redundant thread, (I searched and couldn't find this topic) I have installed a couple of additional H22's since the original install and that pushed the total rec's past the 4 that the dish accommodated. The only multiswitch I could find locally was an 8x16. Needless to say that is what I bought.

Since installation, I'm getting irratic searching for signal issues on a few (not all) of the installed receivers. Logic says its the switch,....but why do some rec's work and others keep flagging this stupid searching for signal msg?

Please explain your current configuration rspecially your new switch brand and model #? I've never heard of an 8 x 16.

yah me either. ive heard of a 4x16 or 6x16 and thats a powered switch. but we dont use neither anymore in my area. just the WB6x8 switches or SWM

you need a directv zinwell switch. they are the only ones i know that work with D*. anything else that claims will work is a hoax just to make a buck off you. i could be wrong unless ure still using RCA recievers from DTV.

also are you using a new current SL dish or 18 inch dishes, perhaps a SL SWM system?

I'm an A/V guy, not a sat installer. Directv originally installed a sl 5 lnb dish and hooked it to three receivers,....old sd unit, a HR-20 and a DVR probably HR 22. I added two HR 22's the client bought at Costco, requiring a MS upgrade.

The switch is a powered 6 x 16. ( had my 6's and 8's all F'd up this morning) don't remember the brand, think it is Zinwell

not to bash you or anything but why a 6 x 16??? thats seems like an overkill. a simple 6x8 that doesnt need a power box would of done it faster and less pain in the a**.

6x8 would be much much cheaper than a 6x16 powered by far.

The switch was all that was available locally at the time. I have since ordered (and received) a 6 x 8 for swap out monday if you think this will cure the problem.

Theres a multitude of issues you may have...If the 6x8 switch does not fix your problems check your connectors make sure you have your b-band converters on the back of your receivers on both tuners..reset your receivers. check your satellite setup on your HD combos. I mean It could be anything... Hell it could even be that your electrical outlet is wired wrong. who knows.

Look at your transponders and tell us what you see. give us the numbers.
