picture worth a 1000 words:

I was gonna add a crack about "that's why I use a PVR to record my shows"...
... but then I looked at the picture! -

I'm speechless.

Gives a whole new meaning to flooded cable...

We could sure use that rain... We have only gotten 5 inches this year. That's half of normal...

I think they said we got like 5 inches of rain today. The water got even deeper after I took that picture.

This is turning into a terrible week. For so many reasons. :(

The worst part of it is that the sewer lines are overloaded with rain water and you can't use the um, facilities. :(

Cool front coming through your area, Dee, and going through New Orleans Friday morning. My yard floods like that after a long period of VERY heavy rain due to adjacent properties draining into it. I had to take that into account when planning the upcoming install of PortaBUD and the associated cabling. Looks like your dishes are huddled together on an island awaiting rescue! :D

Over the years the neighbors have brought in dirt and built up their yards.
Needless to say, that turns my yard into the neighborhood lake.
It takes DAYS for the water to drain off and a good solid week for the mud to dry up out there. I really hate this place so much.

IF I ever get a chance to build my own house I'm going to have it sitting on a mound at least 2 feet higher than all the other houses and the yard I'm going to have built up at least a foot higher than the other yards.

Flooding? What flooding?

I'm wondering how the mosquitoes are in Brisbane......

I was going to ask why it seemed that your yard was the low spot in the neighborhood.......I guess that explains it.
My last house had a similar problem but it was one neighbor with a high yard and 3 other backyards were affected.........turns out he had not only broken a town bylaw but also filled in a town owned drainage ditch when he built his house! For some reason (perhaps it was his extreme wealth) the town officials turned a blind eye thus creating a lake in 3 backyards every spring........not quite as bad as you have there in your picture but certainly unusable.

Dee, I guess it gives you a chance to see if your coax connections are waterproof. Just think if you lived up north and that rain was all snow! Guess you wouldn't have to worry about seeing the dishes at all. Blind:)

Just sit right back & you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a FTA trip
That began in a quaint backyard... Nowhere near a ship.
The largest was a motorized dish, the USALS aligned for sure.
Seven sats came booming in and the signal was so clear!
The signal was so clear!

The weather started getting rough, the quaint back yard was sloshed,
If not for the courage of the fearless tech
The dish’s would be wrecked,
The dish’s would be wrecked.

The dish’s barely dried right now, alone on this tiny mound
With Galaxy,
And RTN too,
Al Jazeera and ONN

The Movie Channel :)

The MUX’s and the News Feeds too,

Here on Dee_Ann’s Isle!

I always did Like Mary Ann. She's so down to earth.
When I was little I briefly wanted to be like Ginger, she was so glamorous but so into herself. I finally decided I would rather be like Mary Ann because she wasn't all stuck up.

However, in reality, I did go through the "stuck up little b***h" years for a bit when I was a teen but I think we all do a little. I'm so glad I got over that. :)

Anyway...

So my yard is STILL flooded. Yuck! Mud. I hate mud! Stupid mud.

I guess it's all waterproof out there, there is a pipe coming up out of the ground by the dishes with the wires going into it and another next to the house with wires coming out of it and through the wall into the house.

The pipes coming out the the ground are like candy canes in shape. I don't have a picture handy of them but it's just like a candy cane. There are like 5 or 6 wires coming out of the pipes I think but I'm only using one of course. A few months ago one of the wires died, lucky for me he had put extras in there so I tried another wire and everything was good again. :)

I think the pipe is like that plastic plumbing pipe but painted black. I think.
I don't remember him put that stuff in, I'm pretty sure I was gone working out of town a lot back then so I can only guess at what he did there.

I wish he had buried a pipe to drain the darn yard!

You've got me reaching for my Gilligan's Island DVDs ;) ...

What's ONN?..... Is that on G19? I didn't see that on lyngsat.

This is the Ohio News Network on 74.0W (Galaxy 17). It won't scan in as ONN, but it is the only constant channel on that sat. I think it is referred to as WBNS TV now on the satellite feed, but there are several channels involved for OTA.

A very good channel, by the way.

Oh OK, Thanks.... I'm fixed right now on 97W here in Iowa, so I can't get it until I get back to AZ where I have a nice motorized dish.
