no reception on some directv channels

I have 2 RCA receivers(one antenna), one of which receives
ok. The other has 0 signal on the even number transponders,
and on that receiver I am unable to receive some even number
channels (such as espn 206 or starz 520).

Since I am getting the signal from the same location, it cannot
be the antenna mis-directed.

I called directv, & they quoted $70 to fix the problem.

Anyone got any ideas? - In simple terms, as I am no electronic
whiz. tks

You have either cabling or connection problems. The LNBF is not receiving the 18V necessary to trigger the even transponders from the receiver in question. Check for water damage at your ground block outside.

the even transponders are the 13 volt side!!!

check ground block and every connection, usually on an rca or hughes, loss of evens most of the time is the ird (reciever)

try unplugging it for at least 3 minutes

Boy, did I goof! Yes Bob, you are correct about the evens being 13V. I do know better. Thank you for the correction!

BTW, we have replaced quite a few RCA receivers lately due to loss of even transponders.

A DBS LNBF receives odd transponders with Right Hand Circular Polarity, the even with Left Hand Circular Polarity. The receiver sends a 13V current to the LNBF to power the odd or RH transponders, 18V for the even or LH transponders.

Again, your LNBF is not receiving the voltage necessary to switch to even transponders. This is most likely a cabling problem, or a connection problem.

but in five years , evens out with a rca or hughes is lnb or ird

odds out is cable or ground blocks

We have had problems lately with older RCA receivers losing satellite signal. In every case, it was the receiver, which we replaced. Hughes, on the other hand, have been solid.
