No NLCS HD

I have DirecTV and on the phone right now to tech support. D* does NOT show FX in HD but regular Fox does....until tonight. A $4000 plasma and I have to watch it in sucky SD.

I would think it'd be HD OTA. I don't know what D* tech support could do.

D* tech says their receivers are all getting the game in HD. I tried hitting the reset to no avail. All other HD channels are fine. This was a Level 2 tech! I'm only talking FoxW.

ALCS is not in HD either. Says it is but it ain't.

As stated a while back only one game will be shown in HD based on your market and the other game should be on FX. I am getting the ALCS in HD just fine, just as advertised.

STORY

Fox Sports has released more detailed information on Wednesday's "Split National Telecast." As we explained BEFORE, both games will be on FOX HD, but the out of region game will be shown on FX. Market information and satellite channel numbers can be found HERE.

I got the same game (cardinals vs. astros) on both channels FX and FOX OTA. The Fox OTA version is not HD, it is ED.

The announcers even said the other game (angels vs. w. sox)would be on FX, but it isn't for me. I think someone has screwed something up somewhere in broadcast tv land.

Who is the programming genius at FOX who allowed both the ALCS and NLCS to be played at the same time? Yikes!

Unless you want the World Series to be played around Veteran's Day (possibly in freezing outdoor weather if either Chicago or St. Louis win), they'd better be playing both the ALCS and the NLCS at the same time.

You mean to tell me that someone can't play at 6pm, while the others play at 9pm? That was the only point I was trying to make.

If it wasn't on FX 248 then you should have been receiving the alternate game on 246 or on your local affiliate. Once again you can all blame this market protection crap on the NAB and your idiot affiliates. Complain to them and the FCC.

That would ultimately be the fault of the MLB schedulers NOT the networks?

Who would you have start at 6 and who at 9?

If LA/Chicago start at 6 on the west coast, that's already 9 on the east coast. If STL/Houston starts at 9 central time, it's either 10 on the east coast or 7 on the west. Flipping the start times for the 2 series won't help much either. The average game is now 3+ hours and Atlanta & Houston played an 18 inning, 5 hour 50 minute marathon the other night.

You can't make it work in all markets (especially the east coast, which is the biggest market), partially because of the time zone differences between the alternating home teams.

I'm sure FOX and MLB are open to suggestions, they both want the biggest markets possible!

They did it every year before, why not now? You just take turns playing the day games. All start times are in EST. 6pm EST and 9pm EST

Maybe they learned something negative about that previous method? The 9pm game would end around 11:45pm - 12:15am on a weekday. Advertisers would crap bricks. If anything they could alternate dates. OR God forbid, relax the market rules and allow two separate feeds at once and let the user decide. Multiplex on OTA, and 2 channels for cable and DBS.

This is the exact same thing they did last year on the one week day that 2 games were scheduled. The only other day that 2 games are scheduled is on a weekend so one game will be during the day.

They haven't done it every year before for the league championship series, only for the first round of the playoffs.

They only did it before for the initial round of the playoffs. Once the league championship series begin, they try to play all the weekday games in the evening in order to maximize the viewership/ratings. On weekends they will have a day game and another at night.
