i have a dvr and it has a yellow access card , ok i also have three 311 recivers and none of them have cards- the slot where the card goes is empty , how does dish program this reciver if there is no card .They all work fine just wondering how this works

The slot is for incase they do another card swapout, the new card would go in there and the card on the motherboard would be disabled.

Really? I figured it was simply cheaper to use the same chassis and bezel they already had thousands of instead of building one without a door and card slot.

I thought that at first, until they came out with the 811 which is cardless and has a card slot. Since there is no card version of the 811, that led me to the conclusion that its for future swaps
