Nmadi Asomugha becomes unrestricted free agent!

1. The Raiders also have Janikowski and McCallum who are very good players, and that's just a start.

2. Imposible to compare Asomugha with Revis, and the good news is nobody has to. Different teams, different defensive philosophies, different situations, different everything. Completion percentage? Means nothing. The Wall Street Journal should stick to stocks!

The bottom line is Asomugha and Revis ARE in the same discussion, because both are outstanding. I do know this...NO Jet fan would EVER trade Revis for Asomugha even up. And if Raider fans think the same about their guy...good for them.

Sandra....Read the article, the stats were provided by STATS, INC. They provide more detailed version of ALL stats to most if not ALL the professional leagues...WORLD WIDE...not just he WSJ.:rolleyes:

Ramy....The ONLY reason that the Raiders are number one is one and only only..... Nnamdi. Stanford Routt is pretty good, but Nnamdi is the original "island". Before this year, they had thrown at Nnamdi's direction only 25-30 times in going into this season in the last 3 years. His contract ALONE proves how good he is with some of the clauses that were in it.

Revis is an OUSTANDING player without a shadow of a doubt. And as much the JETS fans would not trade Revis, same would apply for RAIDER fans with Nnamdi.

The things is, as much as Raider fans hated the whole contract issue, we Raider fans know that no matter how good Nnamdi is, he should NOT get franchise QB type contracts.

As I said, different teams, different systems, different situations, different everything. Stats mean nothing in this case.

Both are outstanding players, but Asomugha has not been tested in big spots the way Revis has. Chances are Asomugha would shine the way Revis has, but that's a total assumption.

What?! So you are assuming that he MIGHT "shine" ?

Hopefully we'll find out how well Asomugha does in a playoff environment someday. Until then he hasn't done it.

PS would be nice if it was with the Jets.

For those of you who THINK that he is completely done in Oakland, think again:

Friday, Asomugha spoke with ESPN's Michelle Bonner, who continued to mention that he is 'no longer a Raider,' before finally asking the cornerback himself if he thought he'd be back in Oakland next season. "There's a chance, there's a good chance," Asomugha answered.

"It's funny, because I hear you say it, and I've been doing interviews all day and I hear a lot of people saying, 'No longer an Oakland Raider,' 'You are not a,' you know, this, that, and the other, but anything could happen at this point," the (former) Raiders corner continued. "When you go into free agency, and you have options, any team is up for you to be on. So the Raiders, obviously with me having been there for so long, have a great shot at it."

Not saying he won't stay in Oakland. Actually, with the lack of a CBA he may have no choice, which could be why he's covering his bases.

Well....he is not gonna get the contract he had last year. There is NO WAY anyone in the right mind would pay a CB the same as a franchise QB like a Brady, Manning or Roethlisberger at $17-20 millions a year.

I agree it is a lot or money for a CB, especially when you consider Asomugha has made first team All-Pro just once in his career, in 2008.

Last year Revis and Woodson were first team All-Pro, Asomugha was second team.

AS Revis has arrived to to Nnamdi's level, in other words, no one throws his way....he will get less interception and deflections...and THAT stat is what those who vote for the Pro Bowl look at. Nnamdi may only have 2 Pro Bowl appearance....but for the last 4 years, he has been considered by all that he is the best cover corner in the entire NFL.

Nah, not talking about Pro Bowls, I'm talking All-Pro.

The AP, Professional Football Writers Asociation and the Sporting News all unanimously chose Revis and Woodson last year. So he was obviously not 'considered by all' to be one of the top two CB's in the league last year.
