I was just wondering what the average signal strength is for 82. I live on the VA/NC border and, with both sats on a dish 500, I could only get sat 82 up to 76.

I put one of those plastic things on the Dish 500, not the Y-adaptor, the part that adapts for only one LNBF,on the dish and was able to get T1 at 81, but still the other transponders would not go above 75.

I was just wondering if my location is the problem or not. I was considering getting HD and I just worried about rain fade.

Thanks

that sounds about right....I use to use a 24" dish and could max out at 75 on the TP's..when I had an 18" dish for 82, it would max at 65 with a cxouple at 51

Thing to rememebr is Nimiq2 is crippled. Something happened and so they cant run all 32 TP's

Iceberg is correct (As usual)

Nimiq 2 lost the use of one of it's main solar panels, so it is operating at about 75% power. The transponders are also the lower power ones like on Nimiq 1 (75 watts I believe) as opposed to 125 watts on Nimiq 3.

In Calgary, Alberta I max out around 78% for signal strength on 82; that's using a regular Bell 20" dish. I use a second dish for 91, so the dish for 82 is aimed as best as I could. I did this for the reason of rain fade. I bought my 6100 and went to install it during a heavy downpour. I wasn't happy with the signal having the 2 LNB's on there after adjusting the skew, so that's why I went with 2 dishes.

Thanks,
I didn't know that NIMIQ 2 was weak all over. Just a dark cloud and 82 fades away.
Maybe, they will replace NIMIQ 2 someday or the best answer for switching to HD is Starchoice when it comes to rain fade.

I am far south of you 1/2 way down Florida and today we have a Hurricane passing by as well - so not the best conditions......

But, I have a Toroidal T-90 (that gives me the equivalent of a 1 Meter Dish) that isn't fine tuned to the max at the moment, but I am getting between 81-86 on the Nimiq 2 transponders in the BEV 6000 setup signal strength screen.

White Coax off lnb is 81/92

Black Coax off lnb is 110/119 for Dish

I suspect I can fine tune it on a clear day to get a few more ticks.

Odering BEV PPV if you are using a Broker

What will EV do when they run out of bandwidth?
