Nightly Downloads

Newbie Q.
Service installed five days ago. No problems except every night about 2am my system downloads updates and new data. Fine, except after the download it leaves a user screen saying "Press select to continue" and just hangs there until I press select. Mostly I want to record old movies, many are broadcast in the early morning. Is there some way I can make this download return me to my program automatically?
Sorry if this is an issue you have all dwelt with and consider "moron level", I did search the entire forum and found no similar question.

i assume you are talking about a DirecTivo unit? if so you might have better luck in the DVR forum. if not, what reciever are you talking about?

That is the description of a DISH DVR screen you are in the wrong forum. I suggest doing a search on your DVR then set timers for the programs you want. The DVR will turn on and record the programs then return to the DISH screen saver.(hopefully)
