Most teams went 100% HD broadcasts this year, and Dish doesn't have the capacity to pull that off with part-time RSNs.I see Dish has updated their schedule and program guide and they are missing A LOT of HD games.
It's due to the dispute.Dallas feed on FS Southwest is being shown. In SD. NO COMMERCIALS ARE PLAYED, JUST A BLACK SCREEN. I also don't see an FS Southwest logo on the screen anywhere.
Interesting? All because of the dispute possibly? At least I still get to see the games...for now...in sh!tty quality....

No Wings in HD....no more Dish.
Is Dish showing fewer games in HD than last year? If so, then the dispute could be an issue. If not, it may just be due to the amount of space they dedicate to HD feeds on their RSNs. Since pretty much all of DirecTVs RSNs are in HD full time, they do not need to use much more bandwidth than they currently use to show the HD feeds of the gameThanks, sorry for the other post. So is the conclusion that this is due to the dispute after all?
It's due to the dispute.
The NHL has transponder space to uplink all of the games in SD from all US and Canadian regional sports networks. (ie, FOX Sports, Rogers SportsNet, etc) The US Satellite providers were given the option to sub in access to their existing RSN feeds as part of the package. With the takedown of FOX Sports, the only option is to revert to the NHL-provided SD feeds.
The commercials are supposed to be removed so that they're not aired outside of their local area, but satellite providers normally get a pass because they don't have the ability to block just the commercials for markets outside of the local market. The NHL master feeds for Center Ice have the commercials blacked out, and are usually replaced with highlight clips and filler content.

You are welcome and no need to apologize. Your other thread was legitimate as it dealt with one specific issue that you wanted to address. This thread deals with a different issue of the same package
Well, like I said, the dish rep said it is due to the dispute (but who knows). I feel like it is less...I guess we'll see when it's resolved.
One point of clarification. They are definitely going to be restricted due to the dispute, but they are also restricted due to the amount of transponder space that Dish has for broadcasting games. I haven't looked in a few months, but last season Dish only had the capacity to broadcast 9 or 10 feeds in HD, which isn't great considering there are around 40 RSNs. (and keep in mind that 9-10 feeds includes NBA games and other big events on the RSNs)W/o the Fox RSN HD feeds, they don't have the capacity to show many HD games in the package.

Even after the FOX dispute is resolved, until Dish makes the Regional Sports Networks 24x7 HD on their own dedicated channels, you're going to miss a number of HD games.

Last year was unique in that there were only a couple teams had a significant portion of their games in HD. Most teams were somewhere in the 50-70% range for having their games in HD last season.I had the package last year and the year before. I saw 95% of the Red Wings games in HD with Center Ice.
In a recent Charlie Chat, it was stated that the RSNs will go 100% HD on Dish later in 2011. So I wouldn't expect anything to be in place for this season. Will this happen?
but as the lack of FSN drags on will the CSN ones GO HD right way? all at once? big city area first? will dish pick up all RSN over flow HD?Last year was unique in that there were only a couple teams had a significant portion of their games in HD. Now this season most of the teams in the league have 100% of their games in HD. So last year you probably saw more HD Wings games because on any given night the other team games were more likely to be in SD anyway, so the Wings HD feed would be chosen by default. Now with more teams having HD feeds to present on any given night, the chances that your game will be in HD goes down as Dish tries to "share the love" with the limited transponder space they have.

Nobody knows the answer to any of those questions except Dish. They only said they will only be able to offer 24x7 HD RSNs in 2011 after "a couple more satellite launches."but as the lack of FSN drags on will the CSN ones GO HD right way? all at once? big city area first? will dish pick up all RSN over flow HD?
I would bet a large some of money it won't go 24/7 HD within the next 12 months.Dish needs to get CSN Chicago HD 24/7 up real soon.
