NFL HD Starting Mid August or Sept 2004?

That's the real question. I want to know that as well. This 24 hr HD feed does not mean HD all the time, either. They try to impress you with the language but we know that there is more than meet the eye.

For those that were here and remember Voom NFL last year. The channel was an upconverted duplicate of the NFL Network, except for the game of the week, which was HD and edited into a 2 hour frame and shown on a delayed basis. I expect the same this year with hopefully more/additional games of the week. As for these preseason games. I expect all except the live games will be edited into 2 hour frames and all/some to be rerun later in the week, possibly. This is just an assumption. I guess we'll find out in about 3 weeks. Also, I noticed from your list, 14 games the 1st weekend with 3 live games, 12 games the 2nd weekend with 1 live game, 12 games the 3rd weekend with nothing live and 16 games the final weekend with 2 live games. I see no reason they all can't/won't be in HD.

I don't think NFL Network has any control over if they will be in HD. It probably all depends on the local broadcaster who is carrying the game and if they are setup for HD. I thought most preseason games are not usually televised nationally.

can we choose nfl team

Voom or anyone who knows.

Can I buy a package from voom that would allow me to watch the eagles every week? West Coast does not like to air eagles other than monday and sunday night football.

Thanks

Nope, only DirecTV has access to all the NFL games for it's Sunday Ticket package.

I'm trying to understand this. When you guys say "Game of the Week" do you mean a live HD broadcast of an NFL game on Sunday or a replay in mid week of a game that was played on Sunday?

So I guess what I'm asking is aside from the NFL Network going HD and a few preseason games being broadcast in HD, will Voom be broadcasting any live football games on Sundays this fall?

For the record, this is the NFL Network's schedule of televised preseason games. The games that will be broadcast live are noted. Unfortunately, only a half a dozen or so of the 54 games will be live. For me, watching a preseason game is not something I get psyched over, watching a replay of one is about as entertaining as watching paint dry. I appreciate the effort, but I wish there were more live games.

Game of the Week: are summarized games that took place on Sundays. There will be no regular LIVE sunday games on NFL-HD; those games were bought exclusively by D*.

So. Where's my NFL Network in HD? Have they started the feed yet? Anyone know if Total Access will be in HD?

I do not believe it has started yet. The NFL has said been very unclear on which programs will be HD. All we can do is wait until more information is released.

There's a channel listed in zap2it that says "NFLVOOM" is this to be the NFL HD feed channel?

That was it last year... and it is expected to be it this year unless something changes.

Monday, August 16th on ESPNHD is Green Bay vs. Seattle, it's not on the above list.
Also on August 21st is New York Jets vs. Indianapolis.

The above list is the NFL Network and should be the NFLVoom HD channel when it starts up... ESPN HD is an entirely different network and channel... You can probably find a list of ESPN HD pre-season games at ESPN.com...

There was no mention of Aug 1. That's the speculation. Here it is Aug 3.

Sean, if you want to be a moderator, act like one.

You're not the CEO of Rainbow - Voom. Stop acting like a jerk.

The majority of us come for information; not your wishful thinking, opinions and observations of porn pq and action. A Moderator is non biased and a gentleman at all times.

Am I missing something? I do not see how he came off as a jerk unless that was some crazy saracasim. I know that he posted that August 1 would be the launch date of the HD channel, but that was a direct quote from Voom and not Sean making this up. Scroll back to the first page and read some of the e-mail that was posted. It might clear things up.

What the heck are you talking about? And where's our NFL-HD ?!?!

He was talking about a previous post posted by someone who deleted the message calling me a Jerk for posting this information.

I am not going to post the name of the person who did it, but here's my answer to you:

I am just a customer like you who would like to have the most HD. When the NFL released the information about NFL-HD being available on August 1, I said to myself, "maybe this is channel 311". I shot an email to Customer Service at VOOM and got the response posted about NFL-HD starting August 1, 2004 on VOOM. Certainly was no speculation from me but I just posted a response to an inquiry I made. Well, you know August 1 has passed and no NFL-HD on Voom. This tells me that the same people that are answering the phones at the Call Center and give us explanation(s) out of this world are the same people answering these inquiries by email.

You would think that you would get a better thought out response if Customer Service response by email but it is quite the same thing -- half true half false.

I spoke to a CSR last night who I trust and it is not going to give me the B.S. that we have seen in the past. As far as the information I was given last night, this channel will not appear until September (or the date afte the NFL Season starts). It seems that it could be possible that VOOM's contract with the NFL-HD feed starts in September or the date afte the NFL Season starts) and not as we thought that it was a given since they had it last year.

Remember too that when VOOM decided to pull the plug on channel 311, I was against it because the NFL just started doing more "HD game of the week" yet it was pulled out without any notice.

There you have it.

Update and Edit: I have never deceived anyone here. As I have always stated, I have said it like it is. Anyone can go back to anything I posted on this forum or AVS about VOOM and find out if I posted anything that was misleading. As anyone has done, I have posted speculations but most of these speculations have some type of statement to back it up. Some of them have come to be true while others are not. Again if you find that there are unfounded statements made by me, please provide me with a link I like to know. I have nothing to gain or lose.

Sean, you are one of the few level-headed people around here and I appreciate that; especially considering the barrage of hate posts you have to deal with everyday. Keep up the good work.
