So 2018, 2019, was what then?
If you’re talking about the Super Bowl against the Rams, yes that was absolutely the defense stepping up. Against Jared Goff mind you, but that was a great game by the defense. Getting to the Super Bowl? Brady, Brady and Brady again. Yes, their defense was good, but no one will ever confuse them with the ‘85 Bears or ‘00 Ravens.
How can it be just plain wrong? How many other coaches have done it? He has won as many Super Bowls as Coach #2 has been to Super Bowls and only Chuck Noll has more than half of Belichick's Super Bowl victories.
I hate the mentality of what have you done for us in the last year or two, especially after such a long and very successful career.
I also have always hated the “what have you done for me lately” mentality that tends to permeate in sports, but that’s not what this is about (at least not for me). For me it’s about the absolute power that Belichick has with seemingly no accountability. That was fine when Brady was here, because I think it is now quite evident that he covered up a lot of mistakes. I’m admittedly saying this in hindsight, but I think the sample size of with/without Brady is now big enough to do so. I don’t want Belichick to be fired, but I don’t want the status quo going forward either. Kraft needs to take back control.
