NFL 2009-10 Season

Is there an Ohio law stating you are not allowed to throw the ball down the field? Is that what's holding Tressel back?

Sandra
It was incredible. I don;t get why they didn;t even TRY to throw downfield. They had nothing to lose.

I know I've said this before, but the Thursday Night game against Pittsburgh is going to be one of the most embarrassing moments in the history of the franchise. It's going to be a virtual home game for the Steelers.....worse than the Christmas Eve blowout from a few years ago when 75% of Browns Stadium was waving terrible towels.

I was at the Christmas Eve Massacre. Those fairweather Pittsburgh fans living in Cleveland sicken me.

The only time, I mean the ONLY time Quinn threw further than 10 yards was with time expiring on the last possession, and BOTH passes sailed out of bounds where the receiver had no shot at catching!

That was brutal. Midway through the 3rd quarter it was hard to spot a Browns fan in the whole Stadium.......at least that one wasn't on national TV.

Yep. What's the deal with THAT? It wasn't particularly windy last night.

If it is in fact a state law, why are the Bengals allowed to throw down field?

I'll put a call into the prosecutor down in Hamilton county to get an explanation. I know Cincy *thinks* they're actually in Kentucky, but they need to follow Ohio law. :)

HD said that these Browns couldn't beat last year's 0-16 Lions.

Here's an interesting question- what if they played the 1990 Pats, a team that Bill considers the worst single-season NFL team of all-time?

59-0 Pats.

Seriously, there was a stat shown on ESPN last night that said a team hasn't been this ineffective since 1933. The team was the Cincinnati Reds. (Yes there was an NFL team with this name back then). The team folded after that season for unpaved league dues.

The Browns still have the Lions, Raiders and Chiefs left. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost all 3.

Chiefs have lost 9 in a row at home, the longest current home losing streak... if we don't break it against the Bills or Cleveland (our last 2 home games of the season in weeks 14 and 15 before we close the season like we opened it... 2 games on the road... way lame btw) it will be pretty disappointing.

The Browns are 3.5 point dogs to the 1-25 Detroit Lions. This should tell you just how bad these Browns really are. Wow!

PS, I'm cashing in the 401K and betting it all on the Lions to cover.

Further clarification on this stat.....

The Cleveland Browns are the 1st team since the 1933 Cincinnati Reds to score just 5 offensive TDs in 15 games. For those of you counting at home, that's FIVE FREAKING TD'S in 60 Quarters of play!!! There are teams around the league who score 5 TD's in a given week! And we can't score that many in a season?! WTF! Man this is bad!

The Cincinnati Reds had football team? Wow.

This is what I think the seedings will look like in seven weeks:

AFC
1. Indianapolis
2. San Diego
3. Cincinnati
4. New England
5. Pittsburgh
6. Baltimore

(yes I think three teams from the AFC North will get in)

BYES: Indy and San Diego

Wild Card Matchups:
Baltimore at Cincinnati
Pittsburgh at New England

NFC
1. New Orleans
2. Minnesota
3. Arizona
4. NY Giants
5. Atlanta
6. Dallas

I'll have to make something like that later... I don't see Baltimore making it to the playoffs anymore, it might as well had said 'congrats to the Steelers on your wild card berth' at the end of the broadcast.

It took a big play followed by a confused 10-man defense to score their only offensive TD on the BROWNS. Otherwise they could only get a FG out of their offense.

Unless they make some serious changes or stop playing to the level of their opponent rather than what they're capable of, they have a loss to Indy next week and 2 losses to Pittsburgh waiting for them, which will keep them from the playoffs and keep the Texans/Miami/2nd place AFC West team in the hunt.

In fact, may want to start a 'just past midseason playoff predictions' thread, since it's worth it's own conversation, this thread will be filled with multiple weeks of talk about the games and injuries and stuff before January.
