I've downloaded just about every single one and several on the H20. Never a problem. Cant say the releases dont have issues but my boxes handle the CEs pretty well.

Really screwed up their boxes, no, and I've done everyone of these. Yep, some releases are worst then others and cause some minor screw up, like hitting the 20 clip forward caused a 6 second skip back first, but they're usually corrected in the next CE or two.
There have been a couple (for the H20, I think) where it was announced that going back might be difficult. The only ones I would have liked to go back from were national releases, not CE 
I think the reason for the rapid CE releases is becuse they are working on the VOD.

Sweet, I might be getting one of the HR20's soon.
They had a special forum on DirecTV's web site last month where they discussed issues with Music/Photos. One of the features that will be released "some day" is the ability to play videos from your computer. They even specified that unprotected VOB files can be played. I'm really looking forward to that feature. I currently convert VOB to TY then upload to my HR10-250. This will take out the conversion and upload steps as, I believe, we will be able to play VOB streams from the PC.
To the question of going backwards...there were some folks (myself included) who lost recordings when going back. It is extremely important to remember that if you plan on participating in the CEs, these type of risks are involved. CSRs will not be able to help you in the event something goes wrong. I wouldn't recommend performing CEs on your main box (especially if it is the one most used by your wife!).
I don't think so. The last rumor was July and if they keep releasing CE's like they have, I think we will see a beta test of VOD sometime in June with a national release in July if all things go well.
I have really enjoyed participating in the CE program.

I've done the CE's since I got my HR20 on December 19, 2006, and have had nary a problem ( knock on wood). Without the CE program I would not have stayed with D*.
And on top of that they picked me to test a new single wire multiswitch for them. (SWM). Works great and you only need ONE coax to each HR20, and it feeds BOTH tuners. Way cool. :up Only problem is only three receivers support it...H20, HR20, and D12. They provide two outputs for you TIVO or R15, too so you're not out of luck if you have older receivers.

Where did you find this info ??? (about the VOD being delayed, they have not set a date as of what I have heard, how can it be pushed back)
So far VOD has only been speculated as to when it would be available.
