The rumor mill is running in overdrive about what is next for Android.

One of the scenarios is: during their I/O Developer Event Google will announce the completion of Froyo (also called Android 2.2 or 2.5 sometimes). The developer team had a party recently, reportedly celebrating the release of the update.

The latest resurfaced rumors claim that Motorola Shadow, first mentioned almost 4 month ago will become the first handset running Froyo and might also become the Nexus Two.

Specs are impressive, too: 4.3" touch screen; QWERTY keyboard, HDMI out...

If this turns out to be true (Moto making N2), I'd expect Apple to continue the tradition and sue Moto...

Yeah, the blogosphere has been filled with stuff about Froyo, which will have Flash support built in. I'd like some frozen yougurt please. :)

I can't wait to see Froyo and a release date for it.

The release date is rumored to be the same time as the next IPhone release. Can this be the Iphone killer?

Whatever. Not falling for that.

Nothing has to be an ipod killer; the ipod is the sexy phone, everyone gets that, Droid provides flexibility and freedom, and is continuing to increase its market-share. Froyo will not kill iphone, but Froyo and the numerous Android 2.x devices coming out will continue to grow in strength, into a healthy market with competition.

At&t is the iphone killer. Watch that phone explode when it gets relesed from the At&t private stables.

Will I get one? nope, I'm too in love with android, but I do enjoy my itouch.

I hope the Nexus One gets Froyo when it comes out as opposed to waiting...

That is one thing bad I'll say about Android, it's not released all at once for all hardware, seems some folks get screwed over.

Not Google fault, Manufactures and Cell providers have the update just are taking their time with it.

Which is one of the reason that google is moving to separate component upgrades from OS upgrades; so that when they comes out with a new browser, you just download the update (like google maps works) rather than wait for the provider to do an OTA update.

But I don't think that is coming with froyo; I hope it is, but not counting on it.

I think that is the good part about Android.
Google updates the OS at its own pace and Nexus One (or Two, etc.) shows what those updates can do.

Carriers' implementation/updates are politically driven most of the time, Google can't rely on them to have the updates delivered on time.

Want to have the latest and greatest - stick to the Google phone...

It looks like "Flash does run like butter on Froyo". At least on Nexus One.
Android 2.2 'Froyo' and Flash run like butter on Nexus One (video) -- Engadget

The default launcher has changed, global search added (also 802.11n is expected).

And all this to be revealed in a week (May 19) and coming in June (with Flash 10.1)

Haven't seen this mentioned for a while, but we might get the allowance to store programs onto the microSD card.

The only one missing piece left for mobile nirvana is Google Voice - please, Google, bring it to Canada!

None of the announced new features of Froyo are really new, most of it was done on rooted/jailbroken smartphones for a while (with the exception of the factor 2-3-4 increase in speed, of course). But having it part of the OS is so much better.

Another reason Google does it, I think, is stimulate Nexus One sales.
Carriers could disable (or charge extra for) this feature while N1 will get it first and have it available.

Can't wait!

Well the new EVO will be by far the best Android phone out on the market it will be the closes thing to a I-Phone just a Android. So if folks are looking at going to a Android phone the EVO will be the way to go.
