Hi everybody- I am one of those strange individuals that likes to take things apart and fix 'em myself- I am normally pretty up to the challenge, but may be over my head on this one. I have a DP301 receiver, and , well, my cat threw up on it (it might be funny if the darn thing was still working)! It has happened in the past (she's prone to hairballs), and usually taking the thing apart and CAREFULLY cleaning off the board usually works. Well, this time I think I'm outta luck- I cleaned it out, and it powers back on, but it is like it is stuck in "recovery mode"- nothing on the screen, the light just flashes on and off- I have let it go for hours, but to no avail. Anything I can do, other than to shell out for another receiver?

TIA-
Laurie

I am really not as dumb as I sound, look, or act- walking that fine line between genius and insanity.....

sorry to tell you but at that point there is not much you can do, but to buy a new receiver since you opened the one you have you voided warranty

Thanks for responding, I plugged the badboy in after letting it sit, and lo and behold, it is working yet again. The thing is out of warranty anyway, so I figured if I could resurrect it, all the better. Yay- we can postpone buying a new one for a little while longer.

We were kinda thinking about getting the one that controls 2 TVs- any thoughts on those?

BTW, love your avatar!!

there is a lots of options if you want to go HD DVR then there is 722/622. HD no DVR 222. no HD DVR 625/522. no HD no DVR 322. i would say get ether 622, 625, 522, or 322.

thanks

Get a DVR, no doubt it will change the way you watch TV.

One caveat though. Having a DVR will make it extremely painful to visit your non-DVR friends who still have to watch what is on "now" in real-time.
