Just had my 522 installed yesterday through SBC and I was wondering what I could do with the USB port on the back. I tried hooking it up directly to my computer hoping XP would recognize something but no luck. Is their a driver or software out there I can install to be able to read from the receiver through the USB.

Thanks and I aplogize if this question has already been asked.

Welcome aboard marco!

And yes, maximum is correct - like jsut about every other expansion port I've seen on an E* box, it's there for show only.

I've posted this before and I'll repeat it: It's there to get people to see it, go on the internet and find a satellite-related website, and ask "what's the USB port on my Dish receiver for ??". :)

You can use the USB on the directivos to watch shows on your pc now. It is called tivo desktop or something. It is a free upgrade to tivo subscribers.

The only thing I have heard anyone use the USB port on the back of the 522 for was to power a notebook cooler to help cool down the unit.
