Newbie question on resolution

I'm slowing learning all the HD terms, so forgive my ignorance. But could someone give me some help on resolution termonolgy.

I've been looking at new tv's and they all have so many different resolutions. For instance, one tv says it's 1280 X 720, and another says it's 1366 X 768. So are both tv's technically 720P tv's? Could someone tell me what are all the different resolutions for HD? Thanks.

Yes.

In reality, most of smaller HD set are most with 1280x768 pixel resulotion and they are all capable to display native 720p and 1080i HD signals. The larger and better ones will have 1366x768 and most expensive ones with 1920x1080 for true 1080p display.

The only difference between 1280 and 1366 units are one is more of 15x9 in aspect ratio and 1366x768 as true 16x9. With scaling of signal, the 1280x768 unit will either loose few pixels on both sides, or your see top and botton with thin black no active pixels with 1280x720 HD signals.
