I am in the process of getting into the FTA game. I just moved into a new
house in a new subdivision, that prohibits any dishes larger than 30 inches.
I had a C-band system at my old house, with a general instruments reciever,
with the videocypher plus module. C-band was pretty simple. I had a dual c/ku feedhorn, the polarizer motor which, switched from horiz to vert polarity.
I aimed my dish at the clark belt & was able to move from sat to sat, with no
problems. I recieved all of the sats, as I had a horizon-to horizon mount & motor.
Now, from what I have been reading on the internet, FTA recievers can recieve in the clear dish network programming, canadian, and much other
programming. FTA uses something called circular polarization. Are the FTA
signals all digital, no analog???. I have been looking at many recievers, and
there is one called the ultrastar 4000, that claims to be compatable with all
types of signals & formats. When using an FTA setup, are you always pointed
to a single bird ??, or is there dish moving equipment for the small dishes???.
A guy I work with had directv at his house, but then switched to cable, and
gave me an oval dish with a triple gun lnb on it. can this be used with an FTA
reciever???. If not, what type of dish is the hot setup for FTA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
