Hello everyone, I am a soon to be dtv subscriber and I have a couple of questions you guys might be able to help me with. After 3 attempts I was told I have no los but I see that I do its just not easy and well the installers in in my area thast dtv sends are pretty freakin awful. anyway do I need a specific dish in order to recieve locals and sunday ticket or will a normal single lnb do it for me. I am not trying for hd because the sat is so low, so just in sd not hd also do i need a specific dish for my dvr to work properly? any info would be helpful.

:welcome

Believe it or not, sat 119 is the hardest to get due to it being low on the horizon. I would try to install the 5 LNB. It does a better job on the regular sats and makes you prepared for the future. So try to have directv install the 5 LNB. If not, I would try the 3 LNB since stuff is spread over the sats and there is no guarantee things will be the same today as they will be in the Fall. With the new sats, things may be moving around quite a bit.

hey thanks brewer, i thought that those 5lnb are only for hd, if it will work even though i cannot get hd then that will be my plan basiclly will the 5 lnb still work even though i cannot get a good shot at the hd sat ( ithink i have not tried) thanks again fellow nutmegger here btw

Cool. Yes the stuff at 103 and 99 is all for HD but there is no guarantee it will stay that way. I found the 5 LNB to dramatically improve my signal strengths at 101, 119 and 110. It also helps with rain and snow fade. So while you may not go to HD now, the dish will be ready when you decide to go and will only require a receiver swap out when you decide. If you are in CT, then 119 and trees is probably your nightmare. It was for me until I removed some trees.

If you are in CT, then your locals come off 119 so you need at least the 3 LNB. DVR service will work as long as 101 is working or single LNB.
