Hi guys,

I'm a BUD guy and it pains me to consider the dark side, so I'm treating this as a learning experience.

What I've got:

ViP 211K
Standard Dish/DTV LNB
Solid Offset

What I' m trying to do:

Hook up this kit to watch Dish on 61.5

I have no idea how to go about this, is there a newbie guide I can use?

TIA

It's pretty simple for a BUD guy. You just bring up the Point Dish screen on your 211k, enter your zip code, and see what az/el values it gives you. You can use the signal strengh meter on that menu to fine-tune. It's way less exacting than a big dish requires.

That said, getting 61.5 alone is not advisable since the EEPG isn't there, and not that many channels are there either. Which package do you subscribe to?

also Dish is moving most of the HD channels to 72.7

If you have access to 129 sat I suggest using that instead. Dish mirrors all the HD there

Basically I can't get below 100 - so it'll be the 61.5/72.7/77 for me - I hope.

I was given this box to test with - not sure of the sub, will ask.

I'm green on all of this, hence the asking.

Tomorrow I'll try and see how I get on.

Update:

I'm locked on 61.5W

Rcvr is configured for a Dish300
Sat is 61.5
I have a lock and confirmation of satellite name

I hit "Done" and it asked me to confirm everything was locked down tight - I said "yes" and now we're waiting for software.

I spoke to the donator of the kit and he told me the box was never hooked up - he ordered it to add to his existing setup (upgrade I think he said) but it was never actually used which is why I guess I'm waiting for software!

No download yet - maybe Elroy is correct - no software on 61.5?
