it looks like we're getting a ska/punk channel back on XM, I hope they do a specific ska show like fungus did, it was too hard to find ska on the station otherwise.
I wouldn't count on it. I've been flipping around for a while and every time I go past Faction, it just sounds like Squizz to me. (Ahh...and here's a DJ. I hate this already.)
I didn't listen to Fungus that much, but it always sounded fun when you flipped it on. Faction is just "singers that are mad at their dad" so far.
I was afraid Lithium would just be Grunge (as the awful name implies), but I've heard some variety so that's good. But I haven't heard any 80's stuff, and that was the whole point of Lucy. When Fred got too obscure for too many songs in a row, you could flip to Lucy. Now, it seems like Lucy's playlist is split between Lithium and 1st Wave. And Fred's playlist has probably already been purged from the system.
Faction was just playing Rancid...first sign of any "punk"...then the DJ said Metallica was coming up, played a bunch of stupid sound effects, and threw on some stoner rap. Did I mention how much Sirius sucks? I want to punch Mel Karmizan in the face right now.
Chill seems to have switched to the Sirius version, which is good for me, but will undoubtedly piss off people who actually like chill (ambient) music. Oh, and their pad data doesn't work...no song titles.
Oh jeez...there's a DJ on Alt Nation. Oh great, he hit the post. I want to strangle him. Play the song, idiot.
1st Wave is playing Just What I Needed. Wow, that brings back memories...of last weekend when I was listening to 1st Wave. Oh here's Pretty In Pink. Real original. I would be totally cool with 1st Wave as an alternative to Fred (like Lucy was), but don't just KILL a fairly original format. Go ahead, change the name, even throw in your damn DJs, but don't flush a whole massive playlist down the drain.
The whole reason I got XM was to hear different things. I could listen to 1st Wave for an hour and never hear a song I didn't already have in my record collection. Sure, I like those songs, but what's the point? Convienience, I guess.
Oh, and what's the deal with NPR "Now". I was excited because I thought it might actually have what's on NPR now. Which would be Morning Edition, with the news updates and everything. Nope...it's Artie Lange on Fresh Air. (Apparently Howie even gets a say about what's on the NPR channel.)
At least XMU seems to be intact. Oh well, I'll find things I like and get used to the things that annoy me. I can't help thinking they are going to see a bunch of churn. There's a ton of people who subscribe just for ONE channel. Take that channel away , or replace it with something inferior, and they're going to leave. And what about the people who subscribe to both services just to get one channel on each? They'll be happy maybe, but you just cut their spending in half. How is that a smart business move, Mel?
