New Waiver Process

Effective immediately, if a customer qualifies for all four major local networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX) in their DMA they will not be allowed to submit a waiver for distant networks.

Customers in incomplete markets can still request waivers for all distant networks, but will soon only be able to request waivers for networks not available in their DMA.

Looks like this is due to the pending settlement

What happens if you are in one of these areas and already have waivers ? Can you keep your DNS if you already have a waiver ?

Just looked at my account on Dishnetwork web site. It no longer shows any reference to the distants I now receive nor any waiver status data. Not a good sign. Feeds are still hot, but who knows for how long.

What is your source for this?

What's your statment date Bob? I just checked mine online and nothing for "new activity" but statment now shows Platinum + locals (just added locals back in Sept). It also still shows my 3 analog distants (ABC, FOX & NBC) plus my distant CBS-HD and Superstations.

My statment is dated Oct 2nd and posts charges thru 11/14.

Can't get to my account...

Unable to logon to system due to technical difficulties. Please try again at a later time.

This is strange. Were you guys able to check your waiver status? I was able to check mine on Oct 3rd but can't get it to work today.

It sounds like maybe they're requalifing and in the middle of making some kind of changes.

Nothing has changed on my statement. Still shows my distants. It runs through 10/20. But when I go to the add programming link, then locals, it no longer mentions either distants or my waivers. It now just shows my locals and superstation package availability.

All I am getting is WCBS-DT, which they were kind enough to throw in for no charge instead of KCBS-DT since I have my second dish pointed to 61.5. Any word if that will be going away as a result of this?

Ok, that's basically the same thing I ran into. Sounds like the main difference with mine is they're charging me for LiLs but others are getting theirs on a "free preview".

I have been paying for both locals and distants all along.

I was a few years back but some of us had to choose between distants and LiLs and I chose distants. Rather than worry about loosing distants all of a sudden and then have no networks, I went online a week or two ago and added LiLs. I'd have waited if I'd known they were going to give us this free preview.

Kind of doesn't seem fair some of us have to pay for LiLs and some don't. Wonder if they'd add them back for free if we cancelled them?

What I'd really like to know is if the distant CBS-HD is part of this whole thing?

I'm in Massachusetts as well, and same thing here where I still get the 2 stations, but nothing listed on the Dish site now. I've been training myself not to watch them in case they go away :(

Same here it only shows the locals I can get - NO MORE Distants at all listed. I had waivers for all of the networks and now they are gone.

Is there a NEWBIE guide?
