I thought of some hacking yesterday!! I had a no longer -used DN dish, one of the bigger round ones, so I took my shovel and hacked out the ground a little bit , in a good spot in the edge of the front yard, and put the old dish down flat--turning it into a metal birdbath. Hey, it was cheap! lol
It works great too, put the 4 short bolts back in and silicone around them so the water stays in. Just felt sorry for the poor animals, we are in such a drought here, I've seen rabbits, squirrels, birds, chipmunks, turtles, lizards and even a few black snakes searching around for a drink. Actually got about 1/2inch rain later on , the first in 3 weeks here. Better birdbaths for all!

Even though I could care less for D* or E*, what you've done is pure evil, a true sin. You should be burned at the "Stake"!

Al

Next thing you know, you'll be using an old BUD as a Gazebo, so the birds can have some shade for there new birdbath. Shame on you!

atone for your sins !

Boy, you make jokes like that over in the C-band section, and you're liable to get lynched!
If you weren't so far away, I'd bring the pizza to the party, as it is!

And since BloomDog has been howling at the moon for the backing off a dish (the mount), why don't you send it over to him as a peace offering to the Satellite Gods ? :D

edit:
Oh, wait. Lizards were in peril?
Well okay, maybe just this one time!

We've had some pretty good rains here the past couple of day. I wish I could send some to you.

And don't even think about making a Gazebo out of a BUD (you aren't that far away). :D

If they are destroyed by the weather or neglect, at least take them in to be melted down into something else with a decent burial.

Fred

Some die-hard attitudes LOL>I thought it was befitting, for all the headaches DN gave me during the two years I had their service. No, I would never use a bud for anything like that, never even crossed my mind. (well I do have this 12' fiberglass that I never could use, due to not having a mount, but I would need to blast for a hole that big, and that is too much work)

Another use for pizza dishes is to attach them to a wall or shelf and use them as a storage shelf. For my painting studio the little 18 inchers do great to hold painting materials I'm working so that they can easily be reached... the warp inward really is nice since it keeps stuff from spilling off on to the floor.

I took a Dish 500 to a wrestling show a couple years ago and they used it as a weapon during a match :D

Discovered yesterday that something had rooted out a small opening underneath my
new dish-watering hole, haha. Since I didn't really want to know what was under there, I didn't pick it up from the loose soil to see. (dislike finding snakes that way)
Today, a little red chipmunk was seen crawling in to his new cool semi-underground house lol.

Never heard of a dish as a weapon, Got a few chuckles out of that, :D had to be funny to watch. Would not want to be on the receiving end of that.

A friend gave me an old Directv dish the other day that is about 36" oval one. I might make a nice elevated bird bath soon here.

the 36" DirecTV dish can be used for FTA :)
Just swap out the LNB on it or add one if there isnt one on it right now :)

I used my Dishpro 500 as a decoy at a yard sale last weekend. I placed an old Hughes D* receiver that I had bought at Montgomery Ward in 1999 with the Dishpro and had both of them marked "free". A guy got real interested. I guess he was thinking it was a E* receiver because it was with the dish. He even checked to make sure the access card was in it. I laughed as he walked away, but I got a little more room in my garage now.
