There are no TV tuners (sat, cable or OTA) that support 1080p, because there are no 1080p broadcasts(and probably won't be for many years). This is because of the very wide bandwidth required for 1080p. There is a big advantage having a 1080p TV with a 1080i signal. It will produce every pixel of a 1080i signal without having to scale it in either direction, thus producing a sharper picture with fewer artifacts. The reason that newer TVs are 1080p instead of 1080i is that all microdisplay (DLP, LCD, LCOS, Plasma) devices are progressive scan, making it impossible to build a 1080i display. All programs shot on film or 24 frame video will de-interlace to 1080p without any artifacts.
