I spoke with Directv and asked when the new satellite will be launched so that I could watch my local channels. On Directv's web page, for my local channels, it said sometime in 2004 but I wanted something more definite like a month or time frame. Directv could not be more specific and later told me that the launch has been severly delayed do to newly found technical problems but the schedule for new local channels will not be changed because all efforts are being made to honor their original time span for new markets.
*I don't know if this means anything to anybody, but the rep also told me that when the new satellite goes up, then they will move an older satellite to a position over Canada.
