We purchased a 60" Samsung LED. We are not able to get it working with our Dish network receiver. We receive audio from the satellite but the screen is pink with black vertical lines. The original TV was set to channel 21 and the receiver was plugged into the component video ports. The new TV uses a component video converter. We plugged the receiver component video cables into the component video converter supplied with the TV and the results are that we hear audio but the screen is pink with black vertical lines. We plugged the DVD player into the same conponent video converter and we are able to watch a DVD so we know it is not a cable or port issue. Any suggestions?

What receiver do you have. If you have an HD receiver you should use the HDMI cable to connect to your TV.. If you have an SD receiver, there is no component output to be using. Only Composite.. Red/White/Yellow
I have a 60" Samsung LED TV. I use an HDMI cable from a 722K Dish receiver to the TV. Why would you use component cables when you have HDMI ports on the TV?

The TV model is un60d7000. The receiver is vip722k. The reason why we are using component video is because our house was pre-wired five years ago and the old tv only had component not hdmi. The tv is above the fireplace and the receiver and dvd player are in a closet on the other side of the room. We would prefer to use hdmi but at this time we do not have a hdmi cable run from the closet through the attic to the tv. I suppose component "converter" was not the right terminology. The TV has a component "adapter" that was supplied with it. The adapter has and RGB end which the component cables connect to and then there is a single "component in" jack on the TV.
I would check the resolution on the 722k. Make sure it is set to 1080i. From the manual, I'm not sure if the TV supports 720 over component.
I know what you're talking about. The LED TVs are so thin that they do not have the Component inputs on the sides. They have a cable that converts the component cables to a mini jack. It saves on space on the back of the TV.
If everything is connected properly then there could be a problem with the cable, input on TV or output on the receiver. If you are able to I would run an HDMI cable.

EHHH Dish's version of DHCP is not compatible with certain TV models..but you would get a message saying so
The RGB cables are plugged into the corresponding colors on the adapter. I cannot validate if the receiver is set to 1080i since I cannot get the menu to display on the tv. I will hook it back up to the old tv and check the resolution in the menu.
I really doubt that the resolution on the receiver will make a difference. Does the TV only have one component input? If it has a second then try that.
I don't understand why your original TV was tuned to Channel 21 to display Component Video.
Are your sure you are using the proper cables for the video and not confusing the Audio cables with the Video cables? Are you confusing Composite with Component?
Component Video requires three cables to properly display the Video as the information is separated into three separate chroma connections. The Samsung Component adapter is just a cable combiner to combine the three Chroma Video Component cables into the single output male end to connect to your TV. Since it seems to be working with your DVD/BD player you must have connected the wrong cables from your Dish Receiver.
Your TV uses a special Adapter component cable that combines all three Component feeds into a single output male end, also your TV may have an Audio cable adapter for use with your Video component inputs that combines the Left/Right audio cables into a single Male output to connect to the paired Component Video/Audio ports to get both Video and Audio for that Video setting on your TV.

I would suggest you disconnect the White Audio cable and see if you still get audio from your Dish receiver (using the Component Video/Audio setting on your TV). If you do not, it is because your RED Video component cable is connected to the RED Audio Input on your TV. This sounds like the classic problem you have confused the connections from the STB to your TV inputs

When you said you connected your DVD player to the adapter...Does the DVD have the RGB outputs?
Reason I ask, according to Crutchfield's input description, the Component input is SELECTABLE Component/Composite. So, if the input is set to composite, and you are using composite out from the DVD, it would work. Just guessing out loud.

I thought the same, but the manual says: 1080p/1080i/720 HMDI , 1080p/1080i Component which is why I thought it was worth a try.
