new receiver, seemingly old code?

Hello.

My 530 was just activated yesterday. I am managing 80/9.4 on the Left Coast of the Southern Provinces using the 75 SC dish. Hasn't varied much even though we had rain roll into town over night.

Out of the box, newly manufactured, it arrived with

Current: 00.CE
Target: 00.00

How far behind is this unit from the current release level? And, is there any way to know when it will be updated or do I just wait for the wheels to turn?

when I got my 505 a few weeks ago it took 24 hours to download the new sortware, it downloaded it overnight when I had it turned off. I'm sure the 530 is much the same as the 505

Well, it took a couple of nights but my new 530 was updated.

By the way, using the (somewhat) maligned SC 76 quad dish, I am steady at 81/9.5 on the middle Left Coast, in a heavy rain at the moment.

Is that 9.5 on a HD channel or a SD channel?

that's a good question

Considering how new I am to this system, I had not connected those dots.

It was famous SD channel 299.

In poking around on MC1 HD, Discovery HD and FOX E HD, I am seeing from as low as 4.6 to as high as 5.8.

I am assuming these reflect the difference in transponders, but if I am tuned to channel x - which of the tuners is it using? Are these normal for my mid W coast location?
