Just an FYI, Engadget has a story on a new, quieter optical drive to be implemented in all new Xbox 360s.

I personally found this extremely interesting/pertinent, as the drive noise (and eventual drive failure--in a 7wk old console just purchased in Nov, no less) was the only real issue I've had w/ my 360.
My 360, in fact, is at the Microsoft service center right now, getting the dead drive repaired. I'm personally hoping that it comes back w/ one of these newer, quieter, and hopefully MORE RELIABLE BenQ/Lite-On/Philips drives.
